If your exhaust port cross section is less then the 1 5/8 pipe cross section, consider using a pipe that matches the port cross section to make the bend then step up to 1.625". Basically extends the exhaust port and reversion wall for greater velocity.
Did you check the exhaust ports on your heads, do they exit the head perpendicular or are they at a slight angle? My heads are off by 7-8 degrees IIRC, one port is one way and the other two are the other way. Easy to simply weld the primaries perpendicular to the flange/heads but that will create a kink in the path, restriction. So my flange needs to match the angles offset, making it a pita.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

I have not checked the port exit angle yet, when I get the engine back out, I'll start the headers hardcore."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. it's a divided housing, and it goes way far back into the exhaust housing, I haven't had the housing off, but it appears to go all the way to the wheel. it's going to be setup for twin scroll, and one day, it when the funds permit I'll update to something a little more legit..."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. A divided housing is NOT a twin scroll. I am not trying to burst your bubble here or be mean. Its a simple fact. A divided housing is different.
Are you going to install those pistons in your current motor, or rebuild a different motor and use the current one as sort of a test/base setup to get the bugs worked out?

The divided housing will do what he expects, keep the exhaust pulses divided up to the turbine to aid spool. So as long as the headers are piped accordingly. True, it won't be as nice as a twin scroll but it still is better then no divider at all.
eric, I've been doing some research into my turbo headers.....I came across some neat stuff which I am sure many can appreciate for turbos. I'm gonna post up a thread later today or tomorrow.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

when the engine comes out for the cam and clutch install, it's going to the machine shop and getting bored for the new pistons. I understand about the divided housing being different, I'm looking into a couple of different options for the turbo anyways, as I'm starting to think the one I have may be a little too small."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. I do need to measure it still, I'm starting to consider an HX351ve though, or maybe a GT4088r. I might use the "gt35" for the time being, I might not, we'll see."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. I have broken with society for reasons which I alone am able to appreciate. I'm starting to lean more towards the holset to be honest with you, the VGT system is pretty cool, and shouldn't be too tough to make work. if I go the GT4088r route, it'll be a real deal."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. Borg Warner makes some nice journal bearing turbos too; many say the spool is just as good as the ball-bearing garretts, they are rebuildable, and cheaper.
Edit to add: and some are bolt-on replacements for Garrett turbos'89 Firebird, 3500 Turbo, T56, 9-bolt/4.11
