  • how much boost

i got a rsm blower kit on my 3100 malibu, using a v 9 vortech blower, can someone tell me how boost the v9 will make, i'm thinking of building a 3400 with good pistons to replace the 3100. thanks

depends on what pulley is installed. my guess if its a standard pulley it will be in 5-7psi range. most kits from what i remember ran lower boost but could be turned up with a smaller pulley.

with a smaller pulley you can probably boost it up to 12psi but i bet RSM would be set to the lower boost i mentioned above. when installed make sure you have a boost gauge and watch it, if it goes higher let off and continue tuning. But you will definatly want to intercool it with more boost. 12-15psi sounds about right maxing the boost out, but you loose efficentcy when your going that high.

i also have the rsm 3x00 kit, the standard pulley is 6-8psi

Not to hijack the thread but i bought a comptech aftercooler with my kit and was told i wont need it only using 6-8psi, it also says something similar to that on Vortech's website, is this true?

needed? maybe not...but definitely not a bad idea... Anytime you compress air you generate heat, having the ability to remove that will help.

Max for these SC's is 13.5 according to Vortech's website
