  • Air to water SAFTY FLOW SWICH

I saw this tonight iv been looking for something to put inline with my intercooler to let me know if a leek has happened. Iv had it run dry before and ping bad.

SUNDANCE SPAS Flow Switch, with Transparent Tee Fitting, Harwil Q-12DS-C2. If you have a small barb fitting on bottom of Tee, order 6560-860.

    96 Z34 3.4 SC DOHC Getrag, 284 5sd manual transmission, stage 3spec clutch, 97 engine, 97 pcm, S3 intercooler 1 of 1 Roots SC LQ1 in the world 8.5 psi.

Use a relay that has 5 pins, "T" the maf signal line to the relay so it doesn't interupt the signal wire. The other end is grounded. Trigger the relay to switch with a loss of water. When the relay switches, the MAF signal wire gets grounded out. Making the PCM switch to SD mode, uses low octane spark map (spark reduction) and trips the SES light.

I might do that for a water/meth injection system. If it runs dry, the MAF is grounded. Which will force the low octane map and prevent pinging with reduced advance.

The Low Coolant Sensor might be a great switch idea.

That idea can be used for multiple systems too. And if any system failed, the spark is dropped right then w/o delay. Like a NOS failure can trigger to ground the MAF signal. Over boost can trigger the MAF grounded. Lots of possibilities.

And the MAF sensor is unaltered. The PCM would still do what it needed to with a real MAF failure. If done right, it could be a VERY inexpensive spark retarding system.

I don't even remember posting that may be time to quit drinking yeah sounds plausible but I don't think it goes to the bad spark table when the maf is disconnected.

Yes it does. When tuning in Speed Density, force failing the MAF is part of the process. The high octane spark map needs to be copied to the low octane map for a proper tune with the right spark advance. I can confirm that myself.

Drinking, it was fun in my 20's. Now making money is my thing in my 30's
