  • Best Turbo for 3.4L

im looking for the most efficient turbo for my planned 3.4 project. i would hope to push 300 hp at the rear wheels. it will have hypereutectic pistons with the coating from swain tech. intake ported, heads ported, SI valves, performance cam and valvetrain. you get the idea. i know im probably looking for something in theGarrett T04E style of turbochargers, as the T3 and T4 styles dont look too promising for 300hp.

anyone wanna help me pick the right one?

This is all a quick calculation, I'd suggest researching all of them further before spending $.

    T04E:
    40, 46, 50, 54, 57 all look decent

T3: (small side but would be very streetable)
    60, Super 60

This is assuming: 6000 redline, 12psi, full boost by 2000, 75% VE (extremely good for a pushrod), 65% compressor efficiency, 70% intercooler efficiency, and 85* air temp.

12psi gives you roughly 330hp. Might want to consider forged pistons.

I would consider a T3/T4 hybrid, the T4's are monsters on the exhaust side and the hybrids tend to be cheaper as well.

i would plan 7 or 8 psi for daily driving, if nto less. it would be intercooled. the forged pistons will do no better than the hypereutectic pictons would, and they cost about 300 less (which is going into the heads and intake) is the 330hp at the wheels or crank?

        Crank.

Hypereutectic pistons are even more sensitive to pre-ignition then OEM cast are. You should find and talk to Tiago, he has that boosted 3.4 in a Camaro.
