The harness should be a 96 is what he is saying. The PCM does not have to be a 96 and can be newer. I don't even think there was a Chevy Venture in 96.

OK so if I can get one from an 04 - 05 Malibu then it would be ok. As long as I have a 96 harness?

You will want to make sure you get a pcm that is supported by HPTuners (if that is what you are going to use to tune). The reason for the 96 harness is so it's OBD2 and plug and play in your car, from what I gather in this thread.

SHane before doing this you need to know why we use the Venture ecm.

the 1996 beretta is a bastard OBD2, and there was not enough table to tune. The Venture ECM bolt RIGHT in and is compatible witht he DHP PwrTuner ( Not HP tuners) and if you want to use any other computer from a newer year you will have to rewire the ECM, mainly because the newer one got a BCM and pass lock.ANd if I remeber correctly the other (1997-UP) computers do no hook up the same way as the 1gen OBD2

Read the Maxboost book and visit Garrett's site and read Turbos 101-102-103 and then reread them.If you are new to turbos it will take some time just to familiarize yourself with the terminology before you can even begin to understand what's being said.Learn to map a turbo compressor [maxboost] it will give you some insight on choosing a turbo.I found a vendor that sells a Garrett 60-1 70 ar/60 trim/ with an .63 or .82 ar turbine that should work great with a 3500.
