well i decided to go with a under hood setup but now i have another question to i make custom headers and and a turbo flange or just cut a hole in the stock crosspipe and just weld a flange and mount the turbo there? and do i need a blow of valve if its an automatic?, because on a standard its required.

yes, you need a blow-off valve... what happens when you're pulling 8psi and then lift off the throttle instantly? the compressor will still be spinning for quite some time, and without a relief, it will try to compress air the whole time, which is gonna cause all kinds of hell.

custom headers are not required... if you hae the means to do it by all means go for it... Modifying the stock manifolds/x-over will work fine, few guys have done it. You can run the wastegate off the rear manifold where the downpipe is currently connected, t into the stock x-over and run the turbo off it, then plumb a downpipe back down from the turbo and out. it is basically how the "Cartuning kit" is setup (stock manifolds with new X-over) for the 3800 cars.

My trans held 7psi for ~40K miles (from 96,000 to 146,000 and then let go) so it all depends on the condition of your trans, impossible to judge. If its in good shape now i would say it should last for awhile... Also depends on who hard you drive it, if you do alot of hard launches you will see it fail sooner rather then later.

Summit, Jegs, JCW all have battery relocation kits..... Or you can piece your own together... Keep in mind if you go to a race track you will be required to have a kill switch on the rear of the car if your battery is in the trunk... Other options you could do it get a "Small" battery and get creative on mounting it up front. and its a dry cell so you can mount it upside down, side ways any way, no leaks
Odyssey makes a cool VERY small battery that should provide enough CCA to start the car

BOV is not required but highly recommended. here are some good generic options (along with couplers and other bits and pieces to make your life easy). the stock TGP's didnt have a BOV... MOST guys added one to prolong the life of the turbo. I have one on mine.... Feeds the ricer side of me... RRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEVVVVVVV PPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. sounds cool... lol

I would recommend setting for low/no boost for initial trials to check for cooling system problems, air and exhaust leaks, etc. Then you go get it tuned . . . . . properly.

If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda

Here's a good place to start, in order. Knowledge is (horse)power. This is by no means all-inclusive.

okay i have a pontiac fiero 1985 2.8l engine, car runs fine its got an intake, and a msd 6a ignition system... my question is, is it normal for it to be smoking out of the dipstick? i cant find no other oil leaks, dont know where or how to approach this issue please help.

Smoking out of the dipstick tends to indicate blowby. It may be okay, but it may be a sign of a worn motor internally.

Computer tuning + bigger injectors is almost always the best way to go, but a FMU and check valve for the MAP sensor may be all you need for low boost if you're unable to get a good tune. (I'm assuming your 3100 is a MAP sensor car and not a MAF car. If it's MAF only, then you won't need the check valve.)

you can if you have the ability to tune the ECU for the correct injectors... Otherwise it will run rich, idle bad.... again FMU and low boost (~5-7psi) on stock injectors or Larger injectors and a Tune.

IMHO: a horrible way of controlling fuel... especially considering what it could cost for a decent tune.

Works just fine for low boost apps.

"The Vortech Standard Fuel Management Unit (FMU) is designed for use on multi-point electronic fuel injected engines. It is a secondary fuel regulator that installs in series with a stock regulator on the return line to the tank. The unit increases fuel pressure in proportion to boost pressure (this assumes the pump being utilized is of sufficient pressure and flow to deliver the fuel required)."
