  • good turbo kit?

im thinking about rebuilding and turboing my cavys 3.1..

    the setup im thinking..

garret T3-T4 turbo, custom headers, greddy BOV and wastegate(both used) greddy boost controller, ebay intercooler and 3" piping..

on a mildly built 3.1 can it make 10psi reliably without issues?
'91, auto 3.1 2 12"s in the back, bone stock..

    future plans..turbo 3.1 or 3.4

sounds like a good setup. as for the piping... Im guessing your refering to the DP and cat back being 3"... 2.5" will suffice but 3" will work as well. you can do a setup without the custom headers if your want to get the car up and running, you can allways do the headers later... Im running stock cast manifolds on my 3.4L DOHC turbo setup. Im currently building turbo headers for it. many guys run stock or modified stock cast manifolds, If you have the means to build tubular manifolds then do it up right away.

well 3" exhaust and/ or intercooler piping..do you have to mount the turbo in the exhaust manifold in the back, or can you run the turbo behind the grille? and getting it up and running quick is key to since this will be my DD

3" IC piping is way to big.. I would run 2"-2.25" (keeps velocity up), the turbo outlet is prob. 2" anyhow. 2.5" exhaust would be sufficent. You will need to collect the front and rear exhaust together into the turbo.. Most guys run the turbo about where the stock airbox/battery sits. Like this:

        Hope this helps.
