right now i have a TGP VIN 'V' engine from a '90 TSTE in the local j/y sitting on the engine stand in my garage. unfortunately i pulled the heads off and discovered that one of the pisons has a nice hole in it since it will be awhile before i have cash to throw at a rebuild, i'm planning on bolting the TGP parts i have onto my NA 3.1 VIN 'T' engine instead. the 'T' engine already has 220,000 miles, and i could really care less what happens to it. i fully expect it to blow up and i hardly have a problem with that. anywayz...
i plan on using the TGP rear exhaust manifold, my rebuilt SS braided TGP crossover pipe, my TGP T25 turbo, all of the T25 oil/coolant lines, my TGP radiator & intercooler & charge pipes, TGP plenum, TGP oil pan, TGP fuel rail with its FPR and injectors, and i won't be using the factory ECM controlled wastegate control...instead i'd rather just have full manifold pressure to the wastegate (what's that like 4psi?). if...when i go higher psi, i would rather use a grainger valve instead (works great on my GTS!). it's all going into a '91 Cutlass sedan and i've already swapped in a Getrag 282 5-speed a long time ago. i should have a ZIF socketed memcal and EERPOM from god910 sometime soon.
is there anything i should watch out for? what about the chip considering it's going onto a NA 3.1 shortblock? i'd like to have fuel cut set as high as possible....like 14.5psi and NO boost cut at all. so far the only problem i see is the turbo support bracket i'll have to fab up since i'm using the 5-speed....
any insight very much welcome....my GTS is my current daily driver and i'm ready to pull the engine out of my Cutlass....it just sits in the parking lot with expired tags while all of my TGP parts sit in the garage....
