  • TGP with a TopGun idle problem

    I was having a problem with the car idling really high and when coming to a stop the rpms would drop suddenly and it would idle like junk. It was a stuck IAC so I replaced it. I did the normal relearn and the topgun relearn procedures. It idles normal now but it sounds terrible and is shaking the whole car. The exhaust is really loud... REALLY LOUD! Like I've got a cammed big block under the hood, and there is an occasional knock coming the passenger side of the engine. You can hear over my noisy water pump pulley. Whats going on?
    If it helps, there's no EVAP hooked up.

    Just replaced the Idle Air Control Valve... Why does it still sound like a big block with a wicked cam?

    double check the prom install in the ecm? try a capacative discharge (touch the postive to negative battery cables together for 30 seconds)

      Has the chip ever ran properly? Jeff made a bad chip on purpose and I wonder if its a copy of that bad chip.

        He did?! Are you serious?

        Well either way, I hooked up a scantool and it showed the o2 sensor was reading rich and it even threw a rich exhaust code. I knew it couldnt be running rich though because right before it threw the code it would ping. After the code it would go back to open loop. So I bought a new o2 and now it runs great! I never would've thought it was a bad o2... I just got the dang thing (used) last year.
