  • Question : 1996 Beretta Z-26 (Stock) project

Hey all, first post on the forums. I was referred over here by a member of bstuff.com he said I should be able to get the info I need . Thanks to 60degree for making the site! So basically I bought a 96 chevy beretta z-26 about 2 or so months ago for 2 grand. It's a nice car, and suprisingly likes to go! So my question is if anyone knows what all would need to be done to get twin turbo set up in it. It's the 3100 sfi, and I'm not too worried about pricing, it's a project I've started with audio and now want performance and bodywork. Basically I want to get the most hp out of the engine as possible. Thanks for any information in advance. And if you can name off the things I'll find them and pricing.

Twin turbo is not going to be very parctical.. I would suggest a single turbo setup. Your car is a '96 so you can tune the ECU via DHP (if you can find one used) or HPT. But you need to decide if you want to go with a single turbo. no off the shelf turbo parts avalible that im aware of, most likely custom is the only way it will get done... Single turbo is the common thing to do on a transverse mounted engine (3000GT VR4 being the exception that comes to mind).

My setup is 2 stock log manifolds collecting into the turbo which is placed on the drivers side of the engine (where stock air box was located) and a single downpipe down and out. only 1 oil feed and return needed, 1 charge pipe, 1 intake pipe ect....

There are a few turbo beretta's on bstuff and bnet. Those are all manual cars though. How many miles on the transmission?

Loner666 had a turbo on his corisca with a 3400 with 3500 heads and a cam swapped in and kept blowing up auto trans left and right. he was in the 12's though. He never did a full rebuild on any of the transmissions so who knows if you did that if it would hold or not..

He used his stock trans, and then just kept using JY transmissions. I'm sure never touching one is the prime reason why they kept blowing up. It's very possible to make a 4t60e handle the power... hell the guys with the 3800's can... granted those are 65e's but they share most of the same clutch packs.
