    Thanks

I used window and door screen as a filter for my first turbo project, I would never use anything short of a filter again, after driving it that way for a while small particles that were able to get passed it eventually started to show their impact marks on the compressor blades, in addition to that dust and other fine particles are eventually going to start wearing away at the piston rings especially during high load moments when the temps in the combustion chamber are highest. Track usage is not much of a big deal but under daily driver conditions you are bound to hit the occasional dusty breeze. I'm not sure what pollen will do but here in Georgia during Spring in some areas it's so bad you can see the nice yellow hue it produces when it builds up on the car. I also found lots of it in the engine bay. Just giving a heads up, no fun when smoke starts coming out the exhaust of a turbo motor, especially after you've just put it together.

Turbonetics! those aren't cheap, better put a filter on it.

yeah, i have the stainless mesh streched over the turbo inlet and clamped down with a piece of coupler. i one of these days am going to build a actual intake w/ filter but for now my ghetto mesh does the trick for the street/daily drive i use it for.... LOL but it does run better and sounds Much "Spoolier" when the screen is off lol

what rpm does your turbo spool at? does it give you power alot sooner than the powerband on the motor already?

The turbo starts to spool at like 2500rpm, and is fully spooled at 4000rpm, and yes its definatly alot more power outside of the powerband, as soon as u can read 1psi on the gauge u can really feel it, then when it fully spools at 11psi its like a rocket lol.

Make sure you're taking advantage of this technique regarding boost creep.

I'm going to switch my twin setup to a single, I need dependability more than novelty. The compartment is to cramped for the twins anyway.

i think the best way to go about reducing/eliminating the loss of exhaust gases would be to use a electronic wastegate controller. that way the WG stays completely shut until the desired boost level is achieved. the article is good for a cheaper way to do it...

thats nice spool. My turbo is a bit large so i have some lag not to mention the 5000+ ft elevation doesnt help my spool... im spooling about 3000 and full boost at 4000.. im seriously considering rebuilding my setup and doing a twin scroll exhaust housing to try and get a little faster spool and replacing my downpipe with a mandrel downpipe (currently 2.5" crush bent). when i remove my turbo inlet screen she spools faster and sooner, so a intake may help a tad as well.

Ya, our turbos are simmilar in size, you have a 60mm t4 and i have a 62mm t4, both turbonetics, so our spools should be very simmilar.

But honestly i dont want mine to spool any faster, with the car being a 5 speed i hit 4000rpm really fast, and my car has major traction issues as it is, and im running P255/40Z R17 BGF Geforce KDW tires. so any faster of a spool and ill go slower lol.

If im in 2nd gear doing 60-70km/h on dry pavement and i floor it the tires break loose as soon as the turbo starts spooling, so i dont need it spooling any faster, im quite happy with how it spools now.

If the car was an automatic, then i might be singing a different tune lol.

this is the meanest FWD ive laid eyes on to date-props! it makes me want to slap a turbo on the GTP in the garage here in 9 months once i get caught up on everything, altho i doubt thatll happen.

please post some videos of this thing revving & 0-60/0-100 if & when you get the chance, im dying to see it in action now!!

Yeah, ive really gotta get some vids of the car, i dont know why i havent, ive got some crappy ones on youtube but not since ive got the boost turned to 11psi or methanol, and they were taken with a cell cam with 4 ppl in the car, lol so once i get the axle situation straightened out ill have to take some good vids with a my HD cam and post them.
