3.4 Turbo questions

I have a 3.4 pushrod Firebird. It is bored .020, cammed (specs on site), with a forged bottom end. When I did the motor work, I upgraded to 19lb injectors. I had the car tuned last winter (mailed it out).

I found a Force Fed Fab turbo kit for my car. Running at 6 - 7 PSI, will my injectors be enough?

Will my tune be good enough for light boost?

The kit comes with an FMU and I am augmenting the kit with a wideband sensor. Will my tune be good enough?

What might I be over-looking? I am currently recently the PCV mod and trying to find a valve cover breather that will work (recommendations?).

Upgraded to 19# injectors? I thought those were stock on the 3.4. At any rate 19# injectors will not handle 7 lbs boost at stock fuel rail pressure, probably need a minimum of 24# injectors.

FMU? is this just a rising rate fuel pressure regulator? if so, fuel pressure would have to rise to 80 lbs at max airflow to supply enough fuel with 19# injectors. Problem with the RRFPR is it is only boost sensitive, not based on airflow, so could be running rich at lower rpm and lean at higher rpm.

Tune - most likely not compatible with boost. Ditch the FMU, get larger injectors and use a code mask that is designed for boost, something like $8F. Tuning will still be necessary.

Your page indicates you've spent a fair bit on the engine, be a shame to blow it all up by using a hack for fueling.

You'll need a 2 bar MAP sensor.

I believe the stock injectors were 16lbs - I could be wrong.

There is no "turbo" tune for that PCM. I have been working on an OBD1 swap kit for these cars, and know for a fact that they can only change small variables like the shift points etc. There is no changing your tables or making able to read a multiple-bar MAP sensor either (ie, the car won't recognize anything more than atmospheric pressure).

up high on the oil pan.. needs to be above the oil level so that it can feed back into the pan by gravity... there is no pump pushing it in so it has to stay above the oil level in the pan.

you mentioned the obd1 conversion(looks like word does get around)? since you have the manual trans, you CAN go that route and use a 1227727 or 1227730(instead of the 16149396 i'm using since i need control over the 4t60e, for now) and run 8F code. i don't know how well that T5 will hold up... but electrically, it should all work.

yea running OBD1.5 is pointless, no one supports it from what ive seen. also i highly doubt those injectors will be enough.

tune wise you could always go with an adjustable FPR but i wouldnt trust it.

honestly if you dont have an auto trans id say OBD1 swap it-if auto trans-then swap out the trans with an older one or a 5 speed. if you go that route you can go to www.moates.net & get a tuner & everything you need to tune it (besides the injectors :P) for around $120-$140.
