  • how much boost on a stock 3500?

just wondering what a 3500 could handle safely being compleatly stock...
i was thinking a T04E turbo .60trim at like 8lbs with a good tune? is that pushing it? what kinda numbers should i expect from that?

8psi with a proper tune should be fine. People run a lot more on 3400's stock and those don't have the steel cranks that most 3500's do.

    16.0 1/4 mile when stock. Now ???
    Original L82 Longblock
    with LA1, LX9, LX5 parts
Manifold-back 2.5" SS Mandrel Exhaust. Hardware is SS too.

is that 100% stock or did they upgrade the cam/valvetrain?

Well, they added stiffer springs to prevent the valve float you'll get with boost. Stock springs are not enough to overcome the boost. LS6 springs are enough. Other than that stock cam is fine.

IMHO anything 10psi or less with a stock engine and proper tune is gunna be fine. Once you go over 10psi on a non factory boosted engine you will need to start some upgrades.

its easy to make power. i made 358whp 365ft lbs with a 57 trim'd 3400. ported heads, stock bottom end @ 10psi. underdrive and some other misc mods, decent tuning. with some add ons with 12 psi, i know i was turning at least 375 whp. never got a chance to redyno. do up a 3500 and you will make a few more hp. that would be sweet!!

13 - 14 I'd say with better valve springs, colder plugs.
