  • Question : blowoff

Finally got thr rsm charger fixed that i bought from black00gt1, thats for another day. the problen i have now, when i put the vacuum hose on the blowoff, it starts missing and idling bad, i raised the idle still the same. with the hose off and pluged the idle is normal, played with the blowoff adjustment no different, i'm thinking a bad valve, i'm open to ideas.

Is your BOV venting to atmosphere?
What kind of ECU are you running?

      blowoff

yes the bov is vented, what i originally did was put the bov next to the maf, after thinking about it, i moved the bov out closer to the blower and that solved the problem, apparently it to close to the maf, and was up setting the air flow going into the maf, just my opinion.

That's what I thought. MAFs aren't compatible with BOVs that vent to atmosphere. Reroute your BOV back to the intake or get a stand alone ECU that uses a MAP sensor.

only if the BOV is after the maf do you need to recirculate it to the intake.. If the BOV is before the maf you can vent to atmosphere because the air is not being metered by the MAF.. you wanna keep it about 8-12" before the maf from what i have always been told.

                blowoff

I got mine vented to the atmosphere, the bov is as far as possible from the maf. works good now.

I'm sorry, guys. I didn't realize that the BOV was in front of the MAF. I don't think I've ever seen firsthand a MAF on the pressurized side. Nice.

i had the same problem with a 07 cobalt i turbod last winter , that same prob and when under full load the maf frequency was going crazy. talked to a few guys and found putting the maf on the charger inlet fixed it . no spurratic readings and smoothe idle. idk if this will help you much but it deff helped me
