  • Sizing fuel injectors?

Looking to confirm some assumptions about fuel injector sizing on a Gen 1 3.1.

My best guess is that, with a bit of head clean-up, ported LIM, and potentially a composite upper intake to replace the crappy Fiero intake, this engine may flow up to 27.4 Lb/hr of air at 12 pounds of boost.

Using an assumed AFR of 12:1 and an IDC of ~80% I figure that 28 lb/hr injectors should be sufficient. What I have are some Ford (Denso) F55E-A2E injectors rated at 24 lb/hr (used on the mid to late 90's 4.6 Cobra).

Ford is notorious for rating their injectors at a lower fuel pressure than just about everyone else (usually somewhere around 2.25 bar instead of 3 bar). After about an hour on Google, I found exactly one site that claimed these injectors flowed 291 cc or 28 lb/hr at 3 bar. Sounds good since the Fiero runs about 3 bar of fuel pressure.

Question: Can anyone provide some info on the fuel pressure that would have been used to rate these injectors? A link would be awesome.
