  • Turbo Questions!

    Can I use the MAF/MAP from a car with the SC'd 3800 to work with a 3400 turbo project? I'd like to get my hands on a good set of low mileage injectors too. Are there any problems using either the series 2 or series 3 injectors?

    You can use the MAP from SC 3800 but find BIN from one of those and change all the MAP info in the ECU so it works. Use an LS1 MAF. Injectors will need to be a minimum of 36# which is what the SC 3800 use or I have a set of Accels I can sell you

      Yeah, stick with a 3" MAF so you don't go from 2.5" charge pipe to some huge MAF and back down again. That causes weird readings from the turbulence. LS1 MAFs are available in 3" and read more flow. But not all LS1's were 3" some were 3.5" like the SS I think and corvette ones.

      I think it's possible too if you had the hardware to re-program (calibrate) the MAF for higher flow. I know people do the opposite, so that they can use a larger MAF for less restriction but re-calibrate it so it matches what the stock MAF was on the flow readings.

        The stock MAF maxes out quite easy. Need to use a bigger one or one capable of reading more. Re-programming it to work with a stock one will be a waste of time

              I'm running the 3400 one which is 55psi max I think. As far as I know that plenty for what these motors can make on stock parts. Just make sure you upgrade to a 255lph pump

                  Just get the universal GM one from Walbro, it drops right in, and they are under 100 bux on e-bay for a kit.

                  I have the high pressure 255 one in ole red, and I really need to put it into the pink car since thats the one with all the motor in it.

                    Stay away from the ebay walbro's!!!!!
                    They are junk and are prone the failure. Be sure to search around before submitting your purchase, it is not fun having to drop the tank twice/three/four times! Worst of all, they probably will not warranty the pump either. $$$$

                          This appears to be a good site for pumps and high flow injectors particularly the shorty injectors used on the later engines. Another way to insure excellent fuel flow is to add an inline external fuel pump. A pump wiring system better than stock is essential. Before I installed my Walbro pump which I hope is an original, I could hear my fuel pump speed change with the turn signal flashing, thicker wires are a plus.

                          Here is a bypass fuel pressure regulator which I plan to swap to for a better regulator to deal with returnless fuel rails found on the newer engines for those who may be planning to do a complete swap;

                            Speaking of counterfeit parts from China, I just received an email from the Chinese company apparently responsible for all of the budget priced expensive performance items we see on Ebay. It's when they place the O.E. name on their product that they are playing down right dirty;
