  • Question : Rs Bov

Are these ebay rs blow off valves any good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RS-TU...mZ360090454936

They seemed kind of cheap but then again I don't know a damn thing about blow off valves so any comments/advice are welcome.

Wastegate size should be inverse to boost pressure, the higher the boost the smaller the wastegate area to reduce the chance of unseating the wastegate valve.

Looks like its good. Better than a crushed DSM valve or plastic valve.

I have used and installed a few of those. It's hit or miss on longevity of that knock off valve with the cheap Chinese internals. I luckily had my hands on some greddy internals and just used the knock off housings.
I am not saying they will all fail using the cheaper working guts, but don't be surprised. If it doesn't fail within a couple months, then it should last for a long time.

i would suggest against the rs bov they leak under high boost, go with a ssqv or tial knockoff if u plan on running high boost or the one i run which is the blitz knockoff

Personally, I would probably get a junkyard BOV before going with an e-bay one. I run a 1G DSM BOV on my Monte. However, there were no e-bay valves when I bought it. I also have a few Tial BOV's. If you have the money, they're nice (but so are the HKS SSQV and Synapse BOV's).

i know alot of ppl running the knockoff ssqv's and tials , the proplem with the tial is they dont offer diff springs so sometimes u may have to heat the spring up or cut it if u get surge but 8 out of 10 times they are fine as is out of the box

the knockoff ssqv i have never heard of an issues with and the hks inserts and recirc fittings fit the knockoffs without mods

Knockoff Tials may not have spring kits, but the real Tials do. I have replaced the spring on mine to try to avoid surge. The Synchronic and SSQV are supposed to work easier out of the box. Tials tend to be high quality and work well, but require choosing the appropriate spring based on the amount of vacuum your car pulls at idle.

the nice thing about the tial knockoffs is u can use tial springs in them same with the wastegates

Ok thanks everyone for the input another question I have is would it be worth spending a little extra money and getting an electronic boost controller over a manual one?

If so does anyone have any experience or opinions on this boost controller? http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=68

I have had both electronic and manual boost controllers. Unless you can set an actual boost level and let the controller do the rest of the work, the electronic ones aren't worth it. My AEM boost controller gauge is neat and easy to use, but the manual one was a lot cheaper, easier to use, and did the same thing.
