      I ran 11.0:1 and 12 psi boost on a proapne 3.4. Broke a ringland on the dyno. Watch thoose ring end gaps!!

        High compression + boost = excellent power and fuel economy due to the increased efficiency resulting from the higher compression ratio. The newer boosted GM cars all have compression ratios above 9:1, the Grand National has not been made in over a decade.

          Can't support this, as I threw the magazine away a while ago, but... The Red Bull Solstice GXP had something like 14.4:1 compression, AND high(like, 30 pounds) of boost in its initial configuration. It was de-tuned from that level to take it DOWN to around 550HP.

          Again, can't verify that claim, just something I read.

            and its also direct injected, which leaves more cushion for high boost/compression
