  • Making custom turbo crosspipe

    Hi,
I am making a custom crosspipe for my turbo setup on my 3.4 TDC ,

what i did was take my spare crosspipe and cut the ends off of it to use for the flanges,

i also measured it up and found that the pipe is 2.25" inches wide OD and that the pipe is .060" thick .

now i know i cant use bends from the local auto parts store to make this up because the pipe is to thin, so i need thickwall pipe.

Question is, where do i buy it from?

ive been to every possible place that sells exhaust and whatnot, and nobody knows where to get it.

does anyone know of a place online that sells it?

also what is .060" in gauge, so if i need a gauge size i know what to order.

    Thanks!

IIRC .060" is 14ga. You can get it from Stan's Headers online, that's what I used on Loner's turbo kit in Dec '07 and haven't had any problems so far.

16ga is really thin, you can try it, but don't expect it to last near as long. 16 and 18 are thinner and made for N/A apps.

Yea. Mine was made with all 14g and so far so issues, even WITHOUT a crossover brace. But then again I do have a leak in the back somewhere but I havent checked to see where its coming from exactly

That's new !?!? did you look at the header/xover flange again? I know last time either Bo forgot to tighten one of the bolts or it worked loose.

I have yet to check the head flanges since I installed the first replacement trans. lol so that could be it, or the fact that I made cheap gaskets for the crossoever flanges and the rear one torn/blew out. Its not a bad leak but I hear something back there.

you can have a exhaust shop bend it up. they have piping in stock. Or buy premade mandrel bends. i would also do aluminized or stainless. mild steel will rust pretty fast.

Search for "Mandrel J" or "Mandrel U"
