  • roots SC as a centripetal?

    has anyone else seen this done? it looks like ssdurango is doing it on his propane setup, is there any benifits/hurt by doing that? i have an eaton m90 sitting on a shelf doing nothing, would be nice to be able to use it without having to hackup my intake manifolds :P

    It's called remote mount and it has been done several times. In fact the Ford Thuderbird among a few other mfgr's have them mouted this way OEM.

      so i think im going to atempt to do this till i get the parts and build my hybrid, my main question is would i want the throttlebody infront or behind the SC? and if i use the stock TB, would i need a BOV, or just use the SC's stock bypass valve?

        Most OEM applications put the TB before the supercharger. You'd only need a BOV if you put the TB after the SC. The bypass valve is only there to reduce the power robbed by the supercharger at low throttle. It allows the air to bypass the supercharger and go straight to the engine.

          I had my Throttle body/carb before the supercharger last year. But I've switched them around this year. I haven't drove it yet but I don't think I'll need a Blow off valve because superchargers slow down with the crankshaft in between shifts where as a turbo would stay spooled up. Make sense to you ForcedFirebird? And another way of looking at the bypass valve is that it recirculates the air without building pressure until you need it.


          Is your M90 ford or Gm style. I'm using the 94-95 thunderbird style.

            its an M90 off of a 98 park ave.
            i think the ford and gm m90's are basicly the same, just diffrent nose cones?

              When the boost bypass is engaged the S/C basically free wheels since it's not building boost.

                You have to remember the crank is not going to slow down as fast as the throttle plate can close. Since you are doing a blow-through, I would suggest a bypass or blow off valve. You can vent it back into the air stream to keep the noise down, or to the atmosphere if you like the sound of it.

                  I'm still using the ford bypass valve, so any boost backing up in the intake pipes would be able to flow back out the filter if it really had to. I don't see any way of incorporating a bypass AND a BOV because the bypass valve snaps open when the engine is under vacuum. It would be sweet if I could because I really love that sound.

                  I think the buicks had Eaton M62s. Also ford M90s are flipped upside down so the boost comes out the top so they can use air-to-air intercoolers

                        how did you run that turbo without using turbo manifolds, i really wanna run this t4 i havebut cant find turbo manifolds for my motor

                          im not sure who you are asking that question to, we are talking about superchargers.

                          but most of the RWD guys just flip the manifolds around and make a custom Y-pipe to go into their turbo's (and pray for nothing getting in the way of the routing )
