  • help me identify these injectors

This is on a dohc turbo in a fiero. The owner said they were 36lb gtp injectors, but I am not sure. Maybe someone here can tell by the color.

This thing according to a wideband says I am stupid lean when boost comes on. Basically the car has no power, falls on its face. Not sure if its too rich or too lean even though the wideband to narrowband gauge says lean.

what are the numbers on them. either one of these sites should help you identify them, FYI these places test them at 43.5 psi, and they also have calculators so you can find the flow at different psi's

When I had my injectors cleaned and benched I requested for them to be tested and such at 55PSI since thats what they would be run at

Yup, look like the GTP 36lbs. Are you using OBDI or OBD2 or stand alone, if so is it SFI?

OBDI can't support those injectors, Block learn will trim them down at idle, then at boost your fuel will be quite lean because of block learn had trim the Base palse width too much.

Its a 7729 ecm so obd1. Thats probably what is happening. At idle and nuetral revving its perfectly fine. Go to put a load on it and try and build some boost and it goes stupid lean according to my gauge.

I am looking for 42lb mustang injectors. I guess I shouldnt' have just sold mine like a month ago to a forum member.

                Thanks for the help guys.

Would the reason only be that they are M2 type injectors? Would going to a M1 style 36 injector possibly solve his problem?

Those Multec II injectors open up more, flow more than the Multec I, Pintle and, simmins style injectors at small palse widths. They work like the rest at higher PW. But by then the OBDI ecm has trim it down too much. So yes, changing to M1 or Pintle (ford type) will help it.

I had tried tunning the GTU with those exact injectors. It always ran fat rich at idle but when I reved it, it would lean out fine, but then when I was driving at boost or WOT it would lean out too much. I had played with the VE, PW, AE tables till my idle was fine, but it would lean out when the power came on still. I since used Ford Red top Super Coupe injectors. They are ALMOST like 35lbs in our fuel pressure.

Okay I see what you mean. I have read though, that you could try unchecking a factory flag and then allow the BPC vs DESIRED egr along with allowing the ECM to see the injectors so there will be a constant at idle. Don't know if it works, but worth a shot.. ???
