Yeah it's hard to picture. But I'm sure they made it that way for a reason....

The air is more evenly distributed. If there was no "tube" in there, the first two ports would have more access to air than the furthest cylinders. Makeing the air have to "back track" to the fron two ports makes the distance to travel more similar. Much like when you look at a set of equal length headers. The primary with the shortest distance to go to the collector has extra bends in it.

The equinox plenum looks like the 3500 one, but has the TB neck attach from the top center of the plenum. So it does the same thing, only better with it opening from the top of the plenum in the center. That would be fun to run if it would clear our hoods. And great for nitrous.

Bottom line is best bet with EITHER of the two intakes 3400 or 3500, the best route to take is DPI. the 3400 plenum is no better, its gonna short change cylinders 1 and 2, of fuel and nitrous, and over power 5 and 6, which is the big flaw of that intake to begin with. Unfortunately with these motors thats the natural issue with them since the air is fed from one side of the motor rather than the top like a carb intake. I will be using my 3100 large port again, but If I feel that its not running the way I like I will be upgrading to a 3500 upper and plenum spacers and then doing DPI to make sure its all even. Thats the only way to make the most power with a nitrous system and be consistent.

yeah I'll have to buy 6 nozzles and bend some lines and all that jazz. You still only need two solenoids for fuel and nitrous, but it would look UBER hot when done.

Yes as you can see a little more work is required like relocating the coil packs and such... but it would look hot all done up with shiny stainless tubing. HAWT!!!

Would look even better without all those stickers everywhere under your hood...looks like underneath the hood of a civic (no offence to you sticker happy people).

The direct port is the best way to achieve equal distribution.

If he is dead set on using a single nozzle, and that intake "flows equally" due to that ridiculous tube in there, I would say to put it as close to the tb as possible.
The turbulance and distance should do a fine job of atomizing the mix...

But lets not forget "reversion" from the cam here.

When #1 opens, followed by #2, ect the mix will go to which cylinder needs it while the rest of the cylinders "rebound" the air due to reversion and force it towards the cylinders with an open port till its thier time to "suck"...lmao

                  STICKERS = HORSE POWER !!!!!!!

Hey I like my ridiculous tube!

And the guy's car with the stickers there is a 3.1mpfi hybrid with a 3400 top end, 3500 plenum, cam, headers, and runs 13's N/A. I don't think he ever ran it with that direct port nitrous. He ended up selling that setup. He's working on the car right now for some more power this time.

If you notice one of those pics isn't using the stock box. Those were pics when it wasn't finished. Likely had the stock box on there just to drive it until something else was put there. I'm using the stock box on mine with a K&N drop in, but my box is opened up to draw in more air than what the factory snorkel allows.

Anyway, this is getting off topic. :P

i would use a set up like this with a ported 3500 manifold for the best performance
01 olds shilluette 3400/4T65-E stock for now

Yeah, that's prolly my fault for dissin on the stickers. Guess I cant say too much because there are stickers on the dragster...but thats cuz i get money for it :P.

Sorry, anyways. So a 3.5 plenum is better than a 3.4 for forced induction appliclations too for better equalization of the boost. Right? So less chances of blowing up the two starved cylinder if they're all tuned properly.

I know at least one person running boost with the 3500, and soon to be another. Midnight had one for a while but went back to 3400 upper cause the neck was too low on the 3500 and was hitting his chargepipes/etc on something (downpipe maybe)

Owch, that's not really what I wanted to hear... I just realized that Everything that I mocked up was in a beretta with a 3.1 and the 3.5 is quite a bit different inlet wise. But thanks for reminding me.
