  • another turbo hyrbrid build

I have a 90 Grand prix with the 3.1. I'm doing a 5 speed swap the first weekend of febuary (getrag 284) and then I'm going to start tearing the motor apart probly end of febuary when i have all my parts together as i am still missing a few important items, anyways heres what i'm planning for a build.

My bottom end plans are bone stock rebuilt 3.1

For the top end I have the complete top end from a 95 3100, I know its not the best of the gen 3 top ends but it was cheap and I dont need custom length pushrods.

The crossover and everything turbo related is custom.

For management I'm using a TGP chip, 2 bar map sensor and I'm still undecided on injectors.

Now that you have an idea of what i'm dealing with i have a few questions.

Are the rings from a TGP diffrent from a NA 3.1? if so, I can use them in my 3.1 correct?
How much boost is the stock 3.1 bottom end good for?
What size injectors would be best for around 7 psi of boost? I know stock TGP's are 22lbs, would these be ok or should i go a little bigger?
and finnaly, what kind of numbers can i expect from this? I'm a little worried about my clutch, whats it good till?

Sorry so many questions all at once, I'm a bit of a noob to the 60* v6, i'm more of a quad 4 guy but thats a diffrent car, lol

    thanks in advance

With a gen3 top end, you'll flow more even before boost, so take that into account. You might max out the 22lbs with the gen3 top end and boost... But I don't know for sure.

Bottom should handle 7psi no problem as long as your tune is good. Any higher than 9-10psi I would start worrying about pistons.

#'s here is a guess with 7 psi and 3100 top end, over 200 somewhere... LOL

9 psi was the highest i was thinking of pushing it, I'm not looking for any huge hp, just putting together what I've come acrossed cheap and putting it together for fun and a little more power over stock, thats why im sticking with the stock bottom end, i'm not looking at spending top dollar on this motor, just a basic rebuild cause it has 377XXX km/s on it and i wouldnt really trust it for boost, lol

injectors are my only real concern, do you think I should upgrade to something like 30lbs or is that a bit much?

what are the stock 95 3100 injectors?

If i go with a 2.8 could i stick with the TGP injectors, since i'd be needing less fuel than a 3.1
