  • where can i find a rear mounted turbo for a 3.1L

Hey i have a 3.1L v6 camaro that i want to install a rear mounted turbo on.

where can i find one online?

how much do they usually run on cost to install and buy?

    are they worth it?

what do i need to do to keep from damaging my engine?

why would you do that, rear mounted turbo's are stupid. with a 3.1 you should have enough room in the engine compartment to make a front mount kit. Find a wrecked TGP and use some of the parts off of that for your buildup. At the very least the turbo will be sized properly for your displacement. The rear mounted turbo was something for the ls1 because there is no fuggin room to route the pipe work. It works but it probably has some serious lag and losses with it.

good luck finding a turbo for my car believe it or not...i've had the crappiest luck finding a front mouted, but no the rear mounts don't lag, they don't produce the same amount of power, but they do help.

Don't get a rear mount with a v6 when you have tons of room to put it in the front of the engine.

            I made a this myself...

The TGP had too small a turbo from the mfgr, as usual. They were equped with a t24 class Garrett - the same ones that came in a pair on the Nissan 3.0 litre 300ZXtt.

Nice work, you really should consider wrapping it to help keep the heat in the system so that you have better response than what you would with it unwrapped. Can you imagine the kind of buisness potential what you have done could have generated had you built this about 16 yrs ago.
