  • Looking to turbo 3100

I'm quite sure theres other people on here that have posted about Turboing a 3100 but I want to ensure my internals and whatnot are capable of taking it.

This engines almost got 125,000 miles on it, I have an issue with a morning tick but I'm looking into that and someone said that its just the injectors or more than likely the lifters. Not really sure.

I'm doing alot of browsing on the internet and I believe these engines can take up to 8psi before having to be built up alittle bit. I'm looking to achive 300hp, and I do plan on getting a 5spd for this beast as well.

I guess I'm just asking since I already know that this car is capable of being turbo charged that I just want to know some of the specifics I need to look into before I do this to an engine thats got this many miles on it.

    Anyways, thanks...

its hard to say. adding a turbo to any motor you allways have a chance of something letting loose that may not have w/o the boost. i say do a compression test and if compression comes out good and close to equil on all cylinders then boost it. if you have low compression on one or 2 cylinders then you may want to rethink putting a turbo on it, and find a used engine to swap in or build before turboing it.
