  • I have some questions.. im a noob!!

i got the 3.4L iron head engine installed into a pontiac fiero.. i was wondering if there was any kind of specific supercharger that would bolt directly up, or if any supercharger would work... also those stock superchargers from gtp's or mazdas, or even the cobalt ss ones, would they still work? is ebay a pretty reliable place to get a supercharger, and for what money should i buy it for? prolly no less than 300 no more than 1000(because i dont have that money) right? anyways thanks for you help!!

there is no bolt on supercharger. if you go with a roots, anything smaller than an eaton m90 (gtp 97+, thunderbird s/c) is a waste of time. the cobalt is an m62, too small. im not sure what mazda charger you are reffering to.

id go centrifical in a fiero. you may find a used one on e-bay, but everything is gonna be custom.

In addition to the size of the Cobalt charger being small, it's cast as one unit with teh intake manifold.

I'm going to suggest something that probably a hundred other people have, and that is go turbo. It will be a much easier install in the Fiero, has the potential to actually make more over all power at the same intake boost pressure, due to no parasitic HP loss through the crank to spin the compressor, such like a supercharger has.

I guess if youy don't mind having the charger stick through the hood, whihc isn't as fugly as a FWD car, then you could do as some other people have done and mount the charger to the top of an intake, but the 3.4 intake presents it's own chalanges in doing so, due to the layout and a custom intake would probably be easiest/best here, just another reason why turbo will be easier to install.

Dont know where you got that info, but you are wrong, it completly seperates off the intake manifold just like a m90 off a GTP

There is always the Faegol SC, if you can find one. Not sure what happened to streets614, since he had a few awhile back he was selling.

Hmm, I've looked at few and they looked to be cast as one unit. *shrug*

i have a complete turbo charger setup in my garage... its a t25 off of a volvo, and a side mount intercooler off of a mitsubishi eclipse.... i have all the oil lines and everything else like that... but ive heard that turboing fieros or the 3.4 motor isnt worth the money that you put into it. and that a SC is the best route to go... and what do you mean custom? how custom can it get? i mean cant you just mount it, by a manifold that fits, and run the lines? what else would be considered custom? and thanks for the quick reply

A single T25 will be too small. It will spool up early and run out of steam early as well. T25 also came on the Nissan 300ZX as twins. If you could get a hold of another T25 it would be a nice setup, unless you have a MAF computer (the MAF sensor(s) would have to be placed before the turbo(s)).
