  • Turbo 2.8 MPFI Tuning

I have a a 88 Beretta GT, 5speed trans. I am in the process of installing a turbo as a spring project. I am wondering which type of optins there are out there to tune my car. I have a friend with a Z24 cavy that is tuning with megasqurit, but he had to take out the coil packs and convert to a fiero distributor, intake, and TB. I am not interested building a hybrid motor at this time. I would like to keep my factory coil packs and possibly harness. On the other hand i have seen that people are using RRFPR's or FMU's. I have not had good luck with these with my honda in the past and I ended up going to stand-alone in the end. I would just like to know all of my reasonably prices options.

I think Ben here can burn you a chip. Also sinister performance aka gmtuners.com can do one too for you.

If you are looking to tune yourself, Moates.net has the equipment you will need. What ECM do you have? I didn't see where you listed the year of your Berreta, but the last 3 numbers on your ECM probably will be 730 for a MAP system and 302 for a MAF.

I'm not sure at the moment what the stock ecu code is. but its a 88 Beretta GT. Is the tunerpro software any good? It sounds like a sister program to my turboedit i use on my CRX

Lots of guys use it on thirdgen.org, but I don't have any experience with it. 1988, you should have a MAF system (IIRC) and supposedly easier to tune than the MAP that I have.

ya my car def. has MAF I remember dealing with it when I was building the air intake for it. A guy on another thread told me to use the #1227727 16197128 ecm out of a pontiac tgp. Is this a plug and play ecm swap. I'm not sure if you have to change other things or not with the harness

He said you have to change the whole ECM, or just the memcal?

Why did your buddy go to a distributor? Is he running MS 1 or 2?
MS 2 should be able to run the DIS that 60º engines use.
