My intention was not to race the 3500 much, if at all this year, but St Thomas (ON) was having a Two Day Bracket Event, and it looked like more fun than turning the cesspool in my backyard back into a swimming pool.

They have instituted new "True Street" Rules in that you must run through mufflers although DOT Drag Radials are OK. ???

However the car doesn't seem to mind all that much, which in and of itself probably tells me Rodney needs to consider creating a new chip.

Best was 14.31 and 96.56 through the 2 1/4" crush bent exhaust and two mufflers along with a 2.01 60' time. (Previous Open Exhaust best is 14.22/ 99 mph)

It was also good for $210 in winnings, and nothing broke.

    I'm happy!

Good run, but I bet wanting to hit a 13 is killing you.

      13.999 in street trim??

You wouldn't want to be in the same room as me.

(At least it has been "suggested" I can be just a tad obnoxious!, LOL)

Well...another successful weekend at the track!

The J-body Club of Ontario hosted their annual event at St. Thomas Dragway. Most of the cars there attend only for show, but they also run 2 bracket classes, 1 for J-body and 1 for GM Other plus a Quick 8 for each.

You couldn't have asked for a better day! Great people...great weather...awesome cars...and Asylum taking home the trophies for both the Bracket and Quick 8. Not to mention a new best time on his car of 14.18.

        Quick 8 semi final.... http://s624.photobucket.com/albums/t...t=MOV00874.flv

        Proof of the wins... http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/t...e/DSC00878.jpg

Eric your car ran very well. Considering how bad the traction at st. thomas is. I was very pleased to watch that thing run! It also sounds really good, need to cam it and you'll be running 13's right away!

New Bests Saturday night at St Thomas.

              1.97 60'

              14.06 ET

              99.58 MPH

New "Rodney" OBD-1 chip. I'm pretty happy!

Got rid of the PITA CAI and went back to 12" long x 3" WAI.

I am learning about how all those bends hinder airflow!!

              Car loved it!!

                  I have been corrected.

                  It's 1.98 NOT 1.97. OOPS!

                      What's your exhaust setup?

I actually made more power with my full exhaust then with the cutouts open.

How much power Dave ? Got a dyno comparison chart at all. I've NEVER seen a car make more power with full exhaust. Wierd. As long as you have about a 12" straight after the collectors, that should make max power, anything more is blocking flow.

I know there are plenty of guys in the street class that run .2 - .3 slower due to having to run mufflers.

I found the chart data, haven't found the actual graph yet..

                          Full exhaust was 275 HP @ 6300 / 249 TQ @ 4700
                          Open cutouts was 266 HP @ 6500 / 245 TQ @ 4200

I was still running 11.x AFR's. Got them in the high 12's now, we'll see what it does on the same dyno this year.

After the headers 2 1/4" crush bent to the axle where it splits and runs into two mufflers.

(Fake duals that look neat, but I can't imagine flow worth stink!)
