what can be done to this motor :P
    what tranny does it have?
    is this motor solid?

think its worth $ 29,980 Canadian funds ?

The motor is very solid is is an LSx motor. But you still ahve a FWD V8 which is lame for real performance. But fun as hell for a daily driver I guess.

well i work at a gm dealership and i have driven alot of gxps they are fun to drive even with tcs on they still melt the tires it tries stopping it but it cant, lol we havent had any, not one come back with a problem yet, everyone that bought one loves it , and the tap shift is pretty resonsive too, especially 2nd to 3rd almost instant, anyways im pretty sure you can only get them in 2006, anyways i love them if that means anything lol

ya, its a nice ride... tires like to honk, it has a tamed feel to the 300 hp, doesnt feel like its pulling massivly hard, but you get up to speed very quick.
i like the tap shift, that was intresting.
it had hud display, in dash dvd player/navigation sytem, but didnt come with the map dvd, whatever that is, i dont even know where i can get a map dvd for it
nice 17'' mags, with bigger rotors

i kinda like this car, it would be a fun daily driver, but getting the tires to hook up were hard, it was kinda like give it gas (maybe 3/4) and it would start to spin, let off the slightest bit and the car would stop spinning, but also stop going, it was kinda wierd, but once you let her spin and hook up, man was the torque steer nuts lol
        sounded great WOT

        i rate this car a 9 out of 10

me and the wife are "thinking about it"
hmm now i need to work on my convincing tactics :P

the motor is actualy the same 5.3l thats in the trucks (iron block lsx). it has a 4t65e-hd transmission, but it has substantial upgrades done to it compared to a previous 4t65e-hd from a 3800 supercharged. havent heard of any major problems with em, and the motors are deffinitly solid. all cars 97+ sold in north america must have obd2 computers in them.

as for upgrades, you have a v8, basicly an ls1. i dont think it would be hard to drop an ls1/2/6 into it. pretty much anything ls1/2/6 top end will fit the motor. getting 5-600hp out of this motor wouldnt be an issue, the weak link is the tranny. i was kinda on edge when i heard they were comming with the 4t65e-hd. even upgraded to what it is, it still has to be on the edge of what it will take at 300hp.

i agree, i was looking at ls1tech, and there are alot of aftermarket for those motors, 600 hp is easy, but your right tranny is the weak link...
i seen a post of 1 guy that had 550+hp, busted the tranny
650+hp, couldnt get of the 60' line without busting somthing on the drivetrain lol

thats too bad, but id be more than happy with what the motor offers as is

i thought the motor was an ls4?... im prolly wrong, as i know nothing about he lsx motors hehe

another thing i like about that motor is the single coil packs ontop the valve cover, with like 6 inch wires... looks hot lol

the 5.3 in the grand prix and impalas and monte carlos is an ls-4 motor but is an aluminum motor, i read in a car and driver article that the 5.3 actually weighs less then supercharged 3.8 by about 50 to 60 lbs, i saw a stock one at milan dragway run a 13.95 int he quarter mile earlier this summer
