Can you say Header flanges? I woud love to have access to a plasma cutter, let alone a CNC version.

I have been thinking about taking some welding classes at the local community college. I taught myself how to MIG fairly decent, but I am sure I can still pick up on some better techniques. Eventually I would like to get into TIG as well.

plasma cutters aren't as neat as you would need it to be for fine detailed machine work. you'd need a typical cnc machine that uses a highspeed rotating bit.

This is the same boat I'm in. I have a 135amp MIG at home and use it a little with good results. I want to know the tricks to figuring out wire speed, power settings, mask settings (auto darkening), Differences in wire, best gas to use... etc. Plus more on technique and how to weld metals other than shit steel :P

If I like this class, Im gonna take the TIG class next semester, then oxy/acet. Biggest thing I want to acheive is being able to weld aluminum like a pro.
          I modify stuff

they'd have to go back and clean up the edges then i'd say, because a plasma cutter leaves a blown edge like a torch does, not as bad a torch, but its still not flat or crisp.
