THe older blocks all use a 20/40 tooth setup. In 2000, the 3100 and 3400 both got a 25/50 tooth setup. Is there a reason GM went with more teeth/linkages? Which would be stronger by design? Im looking for the strongest timing chain I can put on a 3400.

Looking at a couple press releases on some other new 660s, higher tooth chains are for NVT issues, not necessarily strength. Since GM has been pushing for improved NVT on these engines over the past several years, I'm betting that is the reasoning. So if you want a quieter chain, go with the higher tooth count.-Brad-

Forgive my ineptitude, but what is NVT?Health is merely the slowest rate at which one can die.
If guns kill people, then I blame my bad spelling on my pen.

Maybe it is NVH... That makes more sense. At least I got 2 out of 3 correct. :P-Brad-

There is the cloyes (have one new I will sell). It will not work in a roller cam setup tho. Not unless you want to modify the timing cover for a button too...

I don't think it will work in a gen3 motor is what he is saying.. I think the gen2's can use it, I think Curtis runs a setup like that in his z24..sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
