  • EGR cover plate 96-99 for $500

Yeah right. Try GM LIST: $4.11 OUR PRICE: $2.42 from gmpartsdirect.com. That will let you remove the EGR and cover the hole. I don't have a part number but I will get the size tomorrow for the threaded allen head plug to go into the exhaust manifold.

If people really need something to block off 00+ EGRs, I can look into getting some bar stock and cutting it to length and drilling 2 holes in it. Really doesn't look that hard to make it yourself.

I'm running a '00+ EGR blockoff plate I got with the engine, Pat made it. Very simple to make. I'm surprised GM makes a blockoff plate at all!

Where is the 500 one? I want it since it must be made of platnium! Bling Bling Yo!

Ben: Don't have part number? But remember the price or something?

The 2000+ would be super easy to make. All you need is a short rectangle with 2 holes for the bolts. Even if you have a spare ICM bracket/heatsink lying around (the ~1/8" thick aluminum) you could cut up as material for that. Heck I bet if you even cut some thin sheet metal and used some silicone and bolt it up it would hold vacuum.

Brian: did you give up on getting an adapter for your 3500 2000+ style? BTW I meant to ask you, how hard was it to unscrew the EGR pipe in the manifold. Did you do it while the motor was in the car? I have a feeling I'm in for a world of hurt with a wrench down there...

As far as the adapter is concerned, I was going to make it, and still might, but I may avoid needing it if I convert to '96+ PCM and wiring. That setup will control the newer EGR. The way my car is running right now, I need any help I can get...lol

Hmm, not running right? that sucks. Yeah the 96+ will run a 2000+ style EGR which will bolt right up.

We need a site like 3400swap that shows how to convert 94-95 3100's to 96 odbii with less headaches/work as possible!!

Did you ever get pics of your 3500 install and the area by the EGR that you don't have clerance? I hope I have clearance on mine!!!

I think I will have EGR adapters to use the pre 96 EGR style to an 00. Good to know an 00+ egr can be controlled by a 96+ connector/computer.

We have a site here for all this sort of information:P You can even post pictures in the gallery to show people what you have made and how to go about it. I am trying to help with some stuff on the store that people want, but I don't see EGR block off plates being that popular nor charge enough to cover the time when im busy doing port work and building engines.

I will be converting my 94 to a 98 OBDII system soon. I will make a detailed write up on it when I get all the diagrams I need.

Anyone know if the LT1/LT4 use the same EGR? Its not as cheap as Ben's GMPD one, but there are several sites selling EGR block-off plates for Corvettes, Camaros, etc for anywhere from $10 to $25, and they are billet aluminum.

                    LT1/LT4 are different.

I can make a few of thes from aluminum, $9.00 shipped if anyone wants one. I know its hard to compete with large companys.

honestly I still have to get the pics The '95 ECM has no clue what to do. With the stock injectors running it, it still runs rich. Maybe due to slightly less vacuum (from the cam) the speed density system dumps more fuel in. I don't think it'll be that hard to swap over the harness to OBD2 and modify a few things. I need to spend time studying my GM books here, I'll figure it out soon enough

Ben: When do you think you can have the 2000+ adapter ready? Will this be for gen2, or gen3 (3100) cars? As the end of the egr tubes are different of course on them. If you can have one made soon (couple weeks) then I'm interested. I'd rather not hack up my exsisting EGR tube doign the $5 thing, mainly because I don't think I'll be able to wrench the nut off the manifold with the motor in the car...

I'm not 100% postive a 96-99 will run a 2000+ EGR, but the connectors IIRC are the same, it's just the way it mounts that changed. IIRC someone said they did this too and it worked. It's still the same kind of EGR type. (whatever it's called, servo?).

                        Darin: Cool!

Brian: I keep forgeting your have a cam. Swapping over the harnes, I'd look into just splice wires/move wires around.... I know my harness isn't easy to put in /remove. But your's might be your computer is probably under the hood? If I lost ABS, I wouldn't care. ODBII lets me use 2000+ egr with no adapters, and ability to get a powertuner...

I would, but I believe the connections at the PCM are different too! It's like I can't use anything off it. I've swapped harnesses on a gen-2 3.1 but it was just the upper harness. I don't think I know what I'm in for...lol

I just did a '04 3.4 swap into my '95 3.1. I made the block off plate out of the stock exhaust manifold gasket from the 3.1. It was thick enough, barely, to hold, took me 3 secs to make it. I then cut down a 1/2" NPT brass plug and packed it with high temp goop and screwed it into the manifold, I don't think my plug will hold for long...

So, ya, I want the plug!

I would also like an adapter plate for the egr for that manifold, I'll need it for september! E-check then. BTW, I also hollowed out my cat. and I ain't getting a check engine light. figure that one out?

Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.
