I want to know what people are looking for in digital displays and other things.

    Style, impression, configuration, platform, etc.

Let me eat your thoughts I want to know what you think is cool.

Remember I work at Dakota Digital and do take quite a few well okay alot of tech calls. The technology is on the verge of mutation and things are going to change both in size (micro round gauges) and graphics in both automotive systems and motorcycle.

Even ideas of what you would like to control, and be at the command of. Any idea is not small.

Audio, monitoring, performance, conversions, and various other things just convey some thoughts.

(oil change, coolant flush, brake pad change, engine rebuild, whatever)

not really sure what you mean there.... i would like to be able to switch between english and metric.... although i think that the english system needs to be expunged

having an all digital dashboard... no not just all digital, but i want to be able to load a wallpaper like background for my gauges...

say im taking "girl Y" on a date... i would like to be able to take a picture of myself and "girl Y" enjoying a moment and set that as the background to my gauge cluster... then the next night when im out with "girl X" i can do the same thing but with her picture

does that help any... thoes were my honest 1/4 drunken thoughts. oh and i would like another digital shot of jager

I know one thing that would surely be a big seller would be a piggy-back HUD available on digital clusters. I also concur with the idea of being able to change the background on the guages... that would just be friggen SICK!!!!! I would like to have the option to purchase a base cluster from you guys at DD, and be able to add mods to the cluster as needed. Like boost guages and stuff... and an Electronic Boost Controller that could be integrated into the dash would be a HIT with the L67 crowd.... one thing that would be off the hook is if you had an option to change the display from fully digital to simulated analog... that would go hard... shit I'd buy 2 then.

Interesting thing is analog was brought up and may very well happen down the road.

HUD's and Universal HUD's, I will bring it up.

Fully intergrated graphics can only be rendered on LCD or TFT displays that may not happen for sometime. I can only imagine the cost of a digital cluster that could morph like that it would almost require a micro computer.

Now for car weight, this is interesting however this would require load cells at every corner under the springs, however it is possible.

We make EGT gauges and may make and multi gauge with this option in the future.

For a Gauge to be able to read MPG reasonably close to actual several references would be required and programming, so a monitor like this will never be able to auto learn unless every aspect of the fuel system is covered, so the size of this gauge may be 3 and 3/8ths if we ever make one.

Lateral G's require a Gyro sensor like a compass almost, this is also possible.

DAC or data acquisition and control would be a system by itself, possibly like a onboard status report for the day hmmm...

IMHO - digital gauges should have died with the 90's.

Patgizz tell that to the motorheads who like to make classics modern.

I plan on staying here, and I look back at all the things they have done and there is still much more to come.

Analog and digital will combine it is only a matter of time.

Protophase is almost complete to make all STR-A/B/C/D Series I and II System panels work with our latest technology. This will make all STR series control boxes superceded. These new control boxes are not yet made only one in exsistence.

Auto learning technology with auto select is being intergrated in the future which may make buying vdo sensors unrequired. Speed cal still required however gear indication may be included in auto learn which may mean no more gss-2000 and am not sure if it will show the 'prnd12'. This all is however years down the road.

Alpha Graphics are popular, very popular and the alpha systems we have are still first generations, this field of graphics is growing in popularity and larger displays may come out from Noritake soon, however the TFT's are not being overlooked for multi color displays in 16 bit color.

Cost is a major factor I could easily see a LCD or TFT system panel and a controller to operate them cost as much as 1800 dollars on average (possibly more) more for vette's, so as soon as cost for these displays go down it might happen.

Perhaps dual gauges like dual temps, one for outside air, one for intake air. That way you know how cool the air your motor is geting, or how well your intercooler is working by putting the probes before and after the inter cooler.

Or a boost gauge with a temp sensor for the same purpose. Display both numbers at once for both gauges would be cool. Maybe a dual boost and wideband AF gauge. Or a wideband A/F and fuel pressure.

Maybe some how get red display option for the grand prix guys. I think red EL can be done, speedhut has the option IIRC.

For some reason I've always like white numeric displays too...
The square ones if you could shrink them so they mount side by side with minimal bezel around them to save space would be cool.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...

Red, Purple, Yellow, and some other colors are custom but can be done.
