A new Volkswagen GTI is somewhere around 3200-3300 lbs nowadays.
Pretty sad, considering their all aluminum motors only account for ~800 lbs.
    . . . if that.

A sub 2000lb car blows my mind. Even one that's 2700lbs is amazing to me.

The Fiero came real close, and it doesn't require too much of a diet to get it under a ton

Hmm really? I thought they were heavier than we thought, like 2500? Still that's great.

I bet my dads spare 86 grand am iron duke 5spd is light. It's only 100 horse but pretty quick for what it is.

Only the Fiero GT's were around 2500

We've got an ugly canary yellow 84 Fiero at the shop with the IV-tech and she only weighs in around 2200 (if I remember the door jam label correctly!). Base stock, though. God that's an ugly car, and with royal purple interior!

hahah. Yellow notchbacks don't look that bad. If I had a notch back it'd be yellow. I saw one about 7 years ago, and it looked really nice! Black or pewter GT would be first pick for looks though. Why GT weigh more? just the v6?

Mostly, yeah. Along with a few other options and some heavier body cladding and styling.

IDK about this yellow, though. It'd be alright if it was the factory color, but this is closer to Accel's color they slap on their parts. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't matched with the purple on the inside.

Heheh purple.... blech. I have no idea if there was a factory yellow fiero, but the one I saw I didn't even reconize what kind of car it was until later on. I just thought that looks pretty cool, and says pontiac on the back...??!!
