    The track isn't going to solve anything actually. That won't tell us cam specs, flow specs, how the flowbench was setup, the number of angles in a race valve job, etc. The dyno would answer the "how much hp does x product make". 5-10 guessing isn't the answer, its a guess and may as well say whatever he wants.
    I agree, but it will show how a car equipped with his items, stands up to one that has none. Of course, timeslips can do the same.

    I still don't understand, why I haven't gotten off my ass and went to see him.

          I would like to see RednBlack vs ez112. Are you in the 14s yet RednBlack? And with the geo, they did make a turbo 3cylinder model with a whopping 70 something hp.

              I wish I could make it then, but I have to work that Thursday night. Saturday I'll be there. I'll bring my cam corder just for fun.

              The better track here in Illinois also has test and tune on an odd day (Tuesday) So god knows when I'll make it back, and oh yeah, a 14 is definately on my next slip.

                That was the Canadian Pontiac Turbo Firefly which featured a turbocharged, intercooled, multiport fuel-injected 1.0L 3cyl Engine and generated about 70HP @ 5500 RPM. 0-60 in 9.4 seconds according to GM.

                I can attest that you can torture these poor defenseless 1.0 3cyl engines into at least 120 WHP... LOL... but the tranny won't last too long! There was a guy that raced at PMI in Pueblo, CO in the mid 90's that would do the 1/4 in like 10 seconds... beat the hell out of my mustang... and won my $100 bet... I just couldn't stop laughing! It just looks so wrong to see a car like that launch and then just keep pulling.

                  I posted on there with some info and dyno charts. Unfortunately, dyno charts for LQ1's of any sort seem to be few and far between. Dynos are expensive and the cars aren't... Spending $50-75 to dyno a $100 part seems a bit excessive to most people and I understand that.

                  I just sent Milzy a paypal for a minor part today (96-97 EGR block off plate). Mike's been around for quite a while. I really do like his headers and the fact that he's doing work for the LQ1. I'm not a fan of posting gains without conclusive dyno's (for ANY company on ANY car), but I'll reserve any further praise or criticism until I've had a chance to work with him.

                  The dynos I posted suggest a gain, but are not conclusive in and of themselves. They aren't enough to claim a 10-15 whp gain, but ARE enough to claim a change in powerband resulting from a reduction of restriction in the intake and exhaust systems at high rpm.

                    You can buy that EGR block off from GM for 3 bucks or so. I posted about it in off topic.

                      Ben tell him to stuff it. We talked via email a few weeks ago about head flow, his and yours. I sent emails to milzy questioning his cams that he offers 3.1/3.4. I got no response. I asked for a flow chart on his heads I got .600" flow numbers, that he quoted me... here's the email...

                      "We're working on compiling all the numbers for the stage 2 3400 heads to
                      come up with the best number to advertise on the site. The worst set we did
                      flowed 262cfm at .600 lift for the intake side. I'll be posting up the flow
                      vs lift data on the website in the near future.

                      I only have a couple sets of data for the Stage 1 heads, they aren't big
                      sellers as most opt for stage 2, but they flow 235cfm.

                      If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

                      OK? So he's "suppose" to have good flow at upper end, but lets see... the highest lift cam I can find for a 3.1 has a .480" lift on a 1.5 rocker! screw top end if it takes you the legnth of the track to get there! What about low end? mid range?

                      I am a DIYer. Besides, who else do you know that has run a water cooled intercooler on a naturally aspirated car? I wish I had it dyno'd!

                      Off topic, I did my 3.4 swap I'll be posting pics and a few tips in the near future.

                      Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
                      PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

                        water cooled intercooler on n/a? that's a new one to me!! lol. Is it supposed to help with heatsoak on the intake manifold? lol.

                          If you are in a very hot climate you can lower your intake temps with it. Not nearly as effective as it would be with boost but lowering intake temps from an extreme will give you more hp.

                            I'd have to see the setup. I'm guessing it's got like a heater core style intercooler like on the m90 l67 modded cars. But to me, I don't see how you can take outside air, and cool it down colder by passing it through an intercooler which cools the water by having outside air blow on it's radiator... Just doesn't compute for me. The only thing I can see is that it would bascially just cool down the intake manifolds by circulating seperate coolant through it that wasn't used for cooling the main block/heads.

                            Maybe it has water/alcohol spray on the radiator for the coolant? heh.

                              OK, everyone take notes...

                              the test car is/was a 92 Z-34, first we relocated the battery to the trunk driver's side corner as close the back seat as possible. Then we removed driver's fender, inner fender, front bumper and that plastic scooping crap in the mouth of the bumper. We cut the plastic crap in half and replaced it with a fiberglass made scoop we formed over a hand shaped piece of styrofoam with a 3" pipe out the side. "Ram-Air"

                              We'll follow the air first.

                              This went through 3" hose for about 5" long. only to connect to an air box from a 1998 mustang 3.8L, we of course stuffed a K&N filter in there, it's a round looking filter for that mustang and kinda looks like one half of madonna's bras. Out the back side of the air box went a 90 deg 3" (roughly we stretched it) neopreme hose fitting (my spelling sucks, deal with it) this went up into the inner fender area where at an odd angle, half in the inner fender and half where the battery went, sat a spearco heat exchanger. We got it for $300 on ebay, they go for $1200 new. It looks like a aluminum box with hose attahcments on either opposing corner. We had to cut out part of the inner fender to get it to fit. off of the heat exchanger we ran aluminum tubing to the TB.

                              Water.

                              In the side of the heat exchanger is two 3/4" NPT female hose locations, we attached barbed fittings for 3/4" heater hose, we ran the hose (2 of them) inside the fender well above the inner fender plastic down to where the frame rail starts, we then cut an elongated hole for the hose to fit into the frame rail. Back by where the fuel lines start to go "up" we cut another hole into the fuel rail for the hose to come out of and up into the trunk of the car close to the back seat. One hose ran to a 5 gallon igloo cooler, the other to a resevior., then attached to the cooler, inside the cooler we ran 1/2 ID copper tubing ran in a coil, 2 coild actually one inside the other, after the res. we had a small 1/3 hp sump pump from a boat. Hey you use what you got. We filled the system with antifreeze, in the hoses only. now in the cooler we put crushed ice and salt with a bit of ice. This gave us a below freezing temp, thus chilling the antifreeze in the coils and freezing down the intercooler. We recorded ambient temp drops of 68 deg! at idle. We had temp drops, on the average, of 54 deg. around 6000 rpm. That was as bad as it got.

                              Now you all know that cold air is denser and at sea level it paid off!

                              Oh, the reason we put it all so close to the back seat in the trunk? We than cut a piece of 1/4" plywood and walled it off so you couldn't see it, then pulled the trunk carpet over it. It looked factory and it was just a short trunk.
