  • Got my system installed... finally

    I haven't been around much.

My deck and amp were stolen last summer. Right out of my driveway.

I now have a cheap Alpine MP3/WMA player (CDE-9845) and a cheap Phoenix Gold amp (octane-R 8:0.4). Insurance bought those for me last August. Been sitting on them for far too long. Must have tunes...

Nothing is dialed in. Gains are all the way down, crossovers are set arbitrarily. Sounds of the poops. But that could be the OEM 4x6s in the doors. But I have tunes.

I need better speakers, and I'm going to stay stealth. Probably some CDT neo coaxial 6.5s in the doors.

I also installed an alarm/remote start and some cheap parts express door lock actuators. I start the car, and it locks me in. It reminds me of a horror movie: "You're never going to escape! MUHAHAHAHA!"

I don't know if I'm going to another DIY remote start. Biggest PITA evar. I might cough up the fees for a pro to do it on my next car.

Next step is a motion sensor light above the garage. I want to do that tonight, but it's supposed to storm.
I wish I still had my sixty degree.

Id say the motion sensor is your best idea there. I want to hook up a USB webcam over the driveway so I can record. I had my trunk messed up and my deck/amp/sub stolen a couple years ago.

whoa WEISinator! Haven't seen you around lately!

My $0.02: Use a factory radio (cassette) hollowed out face plate as a theft deterrent. Make it so it will cover the aftermarket stereo when you leave the car. Secure it via velcro or another way. Infinite possibilities!

It's a 99 Crapalier. There's no way I can increase the depth enough to use a fake face and make it believable. The HVAC fan assembly sits right behind the radio.

Besides, my el-cheapo metra kit has a pocket big enough for pens. I kinda like it.

Adding in an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm in that car isn't too awfully hard at all.

            Need a wiring diagram?

I already installed the remote start, but thanks.

Would have been easier if I had a wire puller. LOL, it would have been a 2 hour job!

I have a Siberian Husky that resembles a wolf. Local kids ask me if she's a wolf and some even stop dead in their tracks at the sight of her.

But she's an inside dog at night.

I have a pic of her with a dead squirrel in her mouth that I plan on submitting to a "cutest pet" contest in the near future.
