89 Old Cutlass Digital Dash Trouble

My 89 Olds Cutlass Supreme dash is giving me grief. When I turn the key on, the dash used to come on and do a self check, but now when I turn the key on, I get no display at all. In addition, the messgae center in the center console is just show garbage text and characters on the screen. Are these problems related, and if so what could be the cause? Thank you!

If you don't get any replies here, join the W-body board if you haven't already ( www.w-body.com/forum ) and post about your issue there....it's specifically for W-body platform cars such as your Oldsmobile Cutlass.

It sounds like your ECM is screwin up. Both the DIS and the dash get their info from the computer through the ALDL stream. How does the car run?

w-body.com is a good site for the platform related issues such as this but since this is possibly related to the computer hopefully I was able to help.
