  • Rear Struts

    Hi All,
I need to replace my rear struts on my 93 3.4 Cuttlass convertible. I have yet to break out the book on it, but was wondering if any of you have any tips before I get started. Do I need to be aware of any tough situations I will run into. Since I am already in there, anything else that I should replace?

24mm deep impact socket is the only tool I needed that I didn't have. Might wanna look into that. Its a pretty easy job altogether.

Look into getting the rear struts that do NOT have the elongated lower knuckle bolt hole that allows movement/alignment. New Monroes have them this way. Just install it and it stays in one place and you won't need to guestimate a position or get an alignment (As long as you dont have accident damage)

Also now is a good time to get new upper mounts if yours have any rust, also get the rear jounce bumper/shield kit to prolong the strut's useful life.

KYB GR2s have the elongated hole. It makes for a fun trial-and-error process.

I'll be doing that over the holiday weekend. I haven't bought any of it yet. Are you saying get the Monroe Struts or not to? Any name brand suggestions for struts, upper mounts, bushings, etc?

            Thanks,

New Monroes are easier to install cause they don't have the elongated hole, but even if it did, it isnt much harder
