Who uses it? I'm not a sales person, yet. But, they claim to have the best synthetics made. The Performance Tranny fluid sounds good.

Gimme some input. I'm about ready to dump some money into it.

Ive used it before on my 3.1 but since my oil was always dirty looking after 500 miles (worn rings, excessive blowby), I stopped using it. I just put some in my DOHC motor a couple months ago and it will be the last time I use it since my motor sucks it up into my new PCV filter along with condensation. So I can't recycle the oil that gets sucked up

Neither of these really reflect their product...just my lack of ability to make full use of the long life span it offers compared to the small amount of price difference between it and mobil 1. Good thing I got a case...I gotta add a quart every 500 miles or sooner.

Ive used it in a friends car but that was an econobox. The oil looked clean after 3k miles...then I moved from phoenix:P see, im no help at all!

You're really no help Ben. lol Emo

A local 98 GTP owner has been using amsoil since he bought his car NEW in 1998. He said that it dropped his normal temp down 10 degrees vs ... hmmm, either royal purple or mobil 1 oil. I forget which oil he was comparing to.

His oil temps or coolant temps? It hasn't done shit for my coolant temps but I wasn't expecting it to anyway. My car get a little better throttle response...but I think thats my PCV in line filter doing its job:P

Over regular oil Ive noticed slightly lower coolant temps when its fresh.

As far as how long it lasts. I ran 20k with my 3400 on one oil change. Just change the filter and top it up every 5k. I had oil analysis done at each interval. At 20k I still could have gone longer accornding to the tests.

I use it religiously in my engine typically to 7500-12000 miles per change with a filter change out somewhere in the middle. Been doing it for about 2 years now.

I ponied up the dough for a distrubuiter discont ($20 for a year). The discounts are worth it and they have some nice stuff other than just oil. Stay away from their trans fluid though. Its not certified.

I'm running my entire drivetrain on synthetics. I get on average about 60Km more on a tank of fuel than I used to. None are AMSoil products. The engine and trans is Mobil1 and the Diff is Penzoil.

The gas savings alone is worth the extra money. The fact that I extend my change interval to double the distance makes it even more worth the cash

Probably Royal Purple...I think it may be the cause of my engine running hotter than when I got it. When it was fresh I know I noticed an improvement in the car...and I haven't really noticed a loss since then. (no, I don't have numbers to back this up, I felt it in the seat of my pants) But, again the car runs hotter, mostly in the first 20 minutes of the car being on...like say I accelerate hard too soon, the temp will sky rocket momentarily.

i just switched over to royal purple about 400km ago. so far, it doesnt burn it, so i think itll be ok in my car. i would run amsoil, but its still about $3/l cheaper for royal purple. ill see how it goes with it.

The one thing I don't understand is this. Why can I use Type F fluid instead of Dexron, (which I have done for years), but AMSOIL Racing Tranny Fluid is not compatible with Dexron? This is from their website.

Note: AMSOIL Synthetic Super Shift® Racing Transmission Fluid is not recommended as a replacement for Ford Mercon, GM Dexron or Chrysler ATF+ type fluids in passenger vehicle and truck transmissions as it may cause erratic shift patterns, chattering or noise. AMSOIL is not responsible for transmission performance inconsistent with those specifications listed and where transmissions have been modified from the original manufacturer’s design.
And the tranny fluid is what I really wanted.

the amsoil appears to be a race tranny fluid, were you want hard shifts at WOT, every time. the fluid isnt designed with normal driving were part throttle shifts are the reality. it doesnt have the friction modifiers in it that will work well on the street. its kinda hard to explain.-

So it is compatible? Just not for Grandmas' car.

AMSOil ATF almost meets all the specs to be DexronIII compatible but not quite. I wouldnt use it personally, I had shifting problems after switching to it in regular driving situations but it was great on WOT runs.

For trans fluid I would reccomend using GMs new DexronVI its completly comptible with DexronIII however is far superior in longevitiy and performance. Currently its only availble from GMPD and for your dealer.
