I tried this over on beretta.net last night but have not recieved a response as of yet and I want to get the interior of the door back on soon so I'm giving it a go here. In regards to a 1990 Beretta GT.
I had the interior door panel off to replace the power window unit and I noticed the seatbelt mechanism (lower rear of door -> where the seatbelt retracts into) has an electrical connection (2 wire) into a small metal cylinder about the size of a AA battery, it has a plunger in the bottom operated by a paddle that goes into the seatbuckle mechanism. I had the door opened for about an hour while I worked on the window. When finished with my window work I noticed the cylinder mentioned above was very hot. I could not touch it for more than a few seconds. By the plastic electrical connection I could see into the cylinder (theres a tiny gap) and the inside is glowing red. Prying the plastic back a lil bit and getting a better look confirmed that it was really glowing red hot on the inside. THe inside looked like a coil similar to the one in the bottom of your cig lighter. For maybe 10 minutes before I noticed this hot cylinder I had the ignition on (before that it was off) because I was playing with my new functioning power window (the door was opened the whole time), but afterwards even with ignition off the cylinder still seemed hot. So, what is this cylinder? What does it do? Should it be hot? Should I be very worried?
