    DB 165, basic http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...643389073.html

DB265MP Basic, plus MP3 play back ability

DB365MP Basic plus MP3, plus larger display, remote, fold down face plate, etc.

I don't know about those listed prices they seem WAY out of wack.

All of those units I listed there sell for less than $200 CDN the 165 is $129 CDN.

If you need to, let me know and I can send you one.

Just so you know, I own my own car audio shop, I don't remember if I had mentioned that yeat or not.

I'll have a few dollars to throw around next week since it'll be my first real check after vacation, and after easter none the less (overtime!). first letts get the layout right, i'm going to be getting messy with the fiberglass soon since its warmin up, need to fill the massive holes in the old panels that someone else made, and reinforce the center console or make a new one since its 20 y/o plastic, and the old door panels... they think they are tacos.

i've got a pair of KS525's and the pair of kicker CVR8-4 DVC subs. also got a couple pairs of 3.5" audiobahn speakers. everything is 2 ways except the subs of course. and i have 4 audiobahn tweeters with titanuim domes.

i was going to put a pair of tweeters on some plates mounted in place of the factory speakers in the dash (input: should i just go ahead and use a pair of 3.5" audiobahns here since they already have tweeters?), the ks525's in the doors, i'm wanting to fit the CVR8's in place of the factory rear speakers. since i dont have any rear mounted mids yet, i was thinking of cutting the center of the rear seat back and making a fiberglass section for a pair of the 3.5" audiobahns speakers mounted one over the other (side by side if space permits).

most likely there will never be anyone in the back seat. feel free to point out better solutions or configurations.

as for an amp, using a 4 channel: if i wire the subs to work on 2 ohm loads, do the other 2 channels of the same amp have to be 2 ohms too? or can i have 2 4ohm channels and 2 2ohms channels on one amp?

Keep it simple. Less is more.

Dump the audioblah and the pioneer speakers. Use them for target practice or replacements in 1970s clock radios. I wouldn't put them in a car that I plan on driving more than once a week.

Keep the Kickers, both the 5.25s and CVRs. This is an 86 Cavalier? I don't know how much you plan on customizing, but doors aren't bad locations for 5.25s. After having fiberglass kicks, I can say I can't recommend them in a daily driver. I missed the dead pedal.

Dual 4-ohm coils on the subs means you can wire up a 4-ohm mono load. A decent 4 channel amp would work well in this situation. Run channels 1/2 in stereo to the fronts and channels 3/4 bridged mono to the sub.

If you don't have an amp, look to Phoenix Gold's Octane-R lineup. I like my budget-priced Phoenix Gold Octane R804. I look past the fact that it's actually made in Korea (PG from Korea? BLASPHEMY, it's like a Chevy from Korea... Oh wait, nevermind.)

I've been running it for only 2 weeks so I can't yet comment on durability, but it is making ludicrous amounts of power for the price.

I have 2 CVR8 subs, i like to pair everything. just unsure of amps. I know i can wire the VC's parralen and have each sub apear as 2 ohms, but if i wire 2 channels for 2ohms do the other 2 have to be 2 also or can they still be used as 4's?

are you saying i should go with just 3 speakers

the 4 pioneers i had are now apart of my "home" stereo, i have a pioneer deck bolted up to my entertainment center powered by powerewheel batteries on a constant 1 amp charger. even when the power goes out, i still got tunes .

I'm saying wire each 4ohm voice coil in series so you get an 8ohm load, then wire those in parallel so you get a single 4ohm load. Now you have two woofers connected to a mono amplifier connection in 4ohms, safe enough for most class AB amplifiers in bridged mono mode.

Then just run the 5.25 kickers from the front channels (in stereo) on your front channels of your amplifer.

The result is an easy installation with good imaging and good bass.

And with the CVRs, don't try to run midrange through them. Use them as bass, 100hz and below. They also like rather large boxes (for 8s), so mounting them in the rear seat sides might be tricky.
I wish I still had my sixty degree.

ew, i just read the recomended compact "minimum enclosure volume" part of the book included. it gives you instructions for an 11"x11"x9.525" sealed box. i just need to figure out how to get .4cft into the odd shape that is my quarter panel, pencil and paper time. can use fiberglass to make an enclosure instead of fiberboard? if so i can just integrate the box into the back of the interior quater panels to make the most of the space i have.

since there is a left and a right i'd like to keep things as stereo as possible, not big on mono, just my personal perferance. i think i'm going to do a 2 channel amp for the subs themselves and go off the head unit for the doors. i still would also like to incorporate a set of rear mids to get the whole effect from the music, to do that i either need to get creative on the quarter pannels or do the center of the rear seat back as i was thinking earlier.

if i mount a set of rear mids centraly towards the middle of a car, how will that effect the stereo sound? will i notice?

You mean, kind of like this?

Using Kicker Solobarics as well. And actually, they haven't been hooked up for almost 2 years now. I might be interested in getting rid of them if you are interested....

cool job, mines a convertable and it looks like i have a worse shape to work with some kinda triangular or trapazoidal thing, and it looks like its going to be longer one way than the other. what size are the solobarics? i picked the 8" subs since they were small and i'm hoping to fit them where i want to, if the solo's are 8's i'd be interested.

Yeah, they are 8s. And the enclosures are ~0.33cu. ft.

I'm confused. You want stereo subwoofers but you want two rear mids in the center of your backseat? Yes, you will notice those mids blasting at your right ear as you drive, but you won't sense stereo separation with frequencies below 80hz.

If you do rear fill, it's best to add some processing so you don't take away from your front stage. It could be as simple as giving them a choke coil to take away some upper frequency response or you could go all out with a DSP unit.

Either way, move them far away from each other: You want to gain a sense of space. Don't put them right next to each other in the middle of the back of the car, that defeats "the whole effect of the music", to use your words.
