wasnt trying to be mean, i save that stuff for work. the only big snag at the moment is i need to get the 2 4ohm speakers look like 1 4ohm speaker. i bought a pair of audiobahn as31Q's and they somehow have it set up so that with or without the teetwer(4ohm) its 4 ohms, i was hoping it would be 8.If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

Have you thought about possibly wiring them in series. This would yeild a 8 ohm load, but it would still work without damaging youe amp. the only thing is maybe that set would seam to be quieter. But I think it's worth a try, because it totaly depends on how the amp is built. The power output differential will not nessesarily be double between 8 and 4 ohms. It might only be marginal. Check it out.

Yeah, hence the reason I'm not sure I want to part with them. I think I paid $90 each for mine. And no, I doubt a transformer from Radio Shack would work.-Brad-

If you really care about SQ, you'll never use those. They absolutly wreck the high frequency responce and can actually induce noise into the system.
Why do you just use one 4 Ohm speaker instead of two? Done, it provides a 4 ohm impedance at the amp.

mean ass people always with the negativity. why dont y'all build me a big nigga crackin' super bomb $2000 system for my car if you think they're so great. no way in hell i'd spend that personaly, i can think of a lot of things i'd rather do with $2000.
I just think it would be nice to be able to hear my shit when the tops down, that all.If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

I own a Car audio shop, I've PERSONALLY played with these systems, in the Sunfire as well, also the Chrysler Infinity systems and the Ford JBL systems, and they are all JUNK.
A simple deck swap, bypassing the factory amps makes them sound 10x better. A good deck with sufficiant internal power Might cost you a few hundred dollars, and then 4 speakers, in factory locations, or possibly some custom install of speakers in the doors/kicks, you'd probably add about another $200 to $300 to the overall cost, sound better, be simpler, and MUCH easier to install. If you want some real power to it, then add a 4 channel external amp that has a true 35 to 50 watts by 4 and connect them to the 4 speakers that were installed with the deck, cleaner sounding and simpler. That amp might cost you $200 to $300.
Let's tally that...
Deck $150 to $300
Speakers $200 to $300
Amp $200 to $300
Wire kit for amp, which you will need for what you are currently installing anyway. $65ish
So that's a range of $615 to $965, a far cry from this mythical $2000 that you claim.
You'll have great sound (choosing the proper components) and a maintenace free system, that will be enjoyable.
I think you're under the misconcepttion that more speakers = better sound, that is FAR from the truth.
All I have in my car right now is, two 5.25", two 1" tweeters a 300 watt amp running those and a deck.
Seeing as I used some decent components, I have about $1300 into my system. It goes plenty loud enough for me, but I'm barely using any power from that amp, I'm going to be changing a few things, so that I can get more out of it.

the whole point of this was "monsoon amp swap". the whole point of that was keeping a more factory appearance. some people like the the look of a futuristic glowin led lit motorized deck (my brother), or even a simpler one that still looks like it wasn't supposed to be there to begin with. cool sexy rounded looking deck in two tone silver and grey with a wide lcd display that glows red, blue, or anything but the same color as my dash, that would look awsome sittin in my square console, with all the other square shit in my interior, combine that with the fact that the aftermarket adapter for my car juts out out 3/4" from where the oem deck sits makes it look even more hack. in newer cars it looks pretty cool, like the one in my brothers car, they did a good job making the adapter fit flush, and even incorporated a little pocket in it. but my cars 20 years old, thats like my dad getting a mohawk, or a tounge peircing. gross...
the point of using the monsoon amp, as crappy as it may be, is the fact it was made to work with the factory deck, which was made to match my interior. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, its just that it seems one or 2 people are trying to help and all the otheres are trying to shoot me down.If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

i dont think anyone is trying to shoot you down man, its just a 'live and learn' thing. A lot of people have tried stuff like this before and remember how frustrating it is to try so hard to do something and then have it not meet our expectations or not come together at all. We dont want to see someone else go through this as well.
You do seem to have done research on the setups and have wiring diagrams and some basic sterio instalation theory down so more power to ya. It would just be a lot easier to get an aftermarket cd player, 4-speakers, an amp and some subs to tune rather than put in an almost untuneable obsolete factory hand-me-down setup from your brother just because it is cheap.
