Free credit reports aren't free. Well, they are if you have a Credit Card. But what if you don't? Anyone know of a free site? I think I'm close to zero, but it would be fun to find out.

i got mine that you're allowed to get every year. so i find stuff that was not mine on it and dispute, as well as bills that were paid that were never reported paid that i have receipts for. well the dispute process takes AT LEAST 30 days, you can view your free report for UP TO 30 days. so if you want to see if the disputed items were cleared up or not before your next free one in 12 months, you have to BUY a report. i bet they did that on purpose.

I got my yearly freebie reports from all three places at http://www.freecreditreport.com/
They give you all kinds of options to pay for extra stuff, but the basic report is free.'99 Z-28 - Weekend Driver

I'm not sure about the states, but I'm sure it's the same as Canada. Here, everytime you do a credit check, they subtract 2 points from your score. Plus, it says so on your report and banks hate that shit. Keep that in mind, it's the bank's way of discouraging you for shopping for credit. Dirty whores.

Lyle,...where were you 2 hours ago? Now I lost 2 more points! :P How much credit can I get with a 28?
Actually, the report was very informative. Some things I thought would be there, aren't, and others that shouldn't be, were. And the whole thing on the bad side is less than $300.
Amazing that 300 bux can keep you from borrowing money. But any John Doe will sell me a car. Money is F....d up!If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

As I understood it (in Canada) you only loose points if you are not approved for the credit you asked for. If they check and approve its ok.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

It happened to me actually. When I bought my Condo. I needed a loan to consolidate my existing debt, then I needed a credit line. I shopped around for the best intrest rate at a couple different banks. I was approved for everything. After all that went down, I tried to apply for a simple credit card. Then they would not give me a very good limit, they told me it was because I had had too many hits on my credit in the past month.
Just keep it in mind.

Your local credit bureau can give all majors once a year free.
Well I took on a heavy load over the past 3 years so my is below average right now but going up since I have a over 50% equity in my house. I have dept coming out my arse....
Canada is somewhat different, in the states you have to get denied several times for sure consecutive tries before it hurts your credit. In Canada that only hurts you over the quarter in the states it can effect you for years.I am back
