I keep getting thi c--l-search stuff popping up as my homepage

Ever so often it will appear as my homepage. This is what my homepage will get set to http://t.rack.cc/hp.php (<---- DONT CLICK ON IT)

Anyone ever get this crap? It is adding lines to my registry also and droping cookies on my computer. Ad-aware and Spy Bot and I can remove it maually but it keeps coming back.

Anyone know how to defeat it?

You have to find the appropriate files in the system.ini or windows.ini (run msconfig) and uncheck them....then delete the files.

Spybot offers a unique technology for your security. Far beyond antivirus Spybot searches and destroys unwanted software and protects your privacy.

Get spybot, get the updates, run the search program, and then the immunize program. That should help.

Thats the anti virus program I use as well.

Still didn't work. I have already tried spybot a bunch of times and it still wont go away. Also adaware wont remove it. It just keeps coming back.

What the hell am I gonna do?

just to make sure, how many items does spybot look for when you run it?

              You could try regclean.

I got rid of it with Adaware, but I had to use their instructions on how to manually update the source file...it wouldn't find it otherwise. Make absoloutly sure your source file is up to date because nothing before 12-1-03 will remove it.

Make sure you have Ad-aware build 6.181 (the newest one). I find both Spybot and Adaware are excellent programs. I had to get spybot to "fix" something that ad-aware deleted. Its all good now.

Always have auto-update turned on. It's definately worth it.

I've got the gazillion updates for XP Pro corp. edition. Holy fuck. It sucks since I install it on lots of computers.

Yep, me too. I'm to the point that I've reverted back to installing Win98 on anything that has smaller than a 10GB HD. You would think that Gatez would've come up with an SP2 by now...but noooo....he likes us to use half our hard drive on OS updates....

me too. I like to install EVERY update on my customers computers cause I'm just such a nice guy :P . Maybe I'll just put on Win2k if their computer is older... I've got every version of Windows so whatever. XP is just easy to install and don't have problems installing drivers compared to Win90hate.

Another easy (possible) way to fix your problem is to boot up in SAFE MODE and then run Spybot/Adaware. It got rid "Data Miner" on my comp. even after deleting it several times with Spybot/Adaware. Worth a shot.
