  • Just a couple quick NEW-b style questions

One, will I benifit from bypassing the coolant hoses that run through my TB, or will this throw a code.

Two, is the 3400 series SFI manifold larger in port diameter compared to my 3100 series SFI (for those who forgot its a 00 3100)

Im just trying to figure out if theres anything i can use on this blown 3400 that will produce some more power from a simple swap, (asides from the TB hence the coolant bypass question) or are they pretty much just spare parts to port out????

    1. Won't throw a code. You probably won't notice much of a difference either.

    2. The intake ports on the 3400 are larger than the same ports on the 94-98 3100's (we should just call them the "Series 1 3100"). In 2000 the 3100 received an upgrade when GM decided to cut costs and have them share the same cylinder heads and lower intake manifold as the 3400's. The 00+ 3100 upper intake is the same design as the 3400 but with different lettering on top.

Thanks guys, incidently it seems someone tried pooring sand into the intake mani, the valves need to be replaced anyway so i just stipped them down, and the cylender walls have more scars than a dominatrix customer. That and the pistons looks like cheese......yummy...although the crankand rods are fine, maybe i'll send it out to get balanced along with the heads to be ported....now i just need to find a place that sells over sized valves
