  • I am gauging interest on a digital dash of luminas.

I need directed interest support here.
If I get enough people interested I can start up the project now.

I have a Lack of support in house.....I can start my own build at my expense, but if there is interest I can get it going much faster.

Limited Lifetime warranty (life of vehicle) you really can't beat that today. If the car is sold only manufacture defects are covered under this warranty.

If I get support from various inquires or here online I can simply put a request to have my Lumina researched and a kit will be delevolped!!! and marketed....

This would be way better than reverse gauges, and gay bezels....

Some older car like the tornado, and some olds cutlass's have digital dashes, and many other makes have digital dashes OEM. Dakota Digital has resources to repair OE factory digital VFD displays.

And example of what it may appear like: Impala

Dakota Digital manufactures digital instrumentation and accessories for the automotive, motorcycle and car audio enthusiast.

The price is affordable, since a OEM digital dash for their cars can cost more and get little warranty.

RE: I am gauging interest on a digital dash of luminas.

Project has been dropped. It will always be a custom application.

Unless it changes the price to have one put in a W-body will cost 200-300 more than average because it is a non-production application. I wanted to bring this to production level, but lack of interest causes this. This also applies to GP's, Cutlass, Monte, and some regal W-bodies.

someone already makes an adapter to put the cutlass digital gauges into luminas so anyone who wants digital goes that way, since w-body owners tend to be young kids who have no money.

Plain jane digital dashes can be found easy and cheap, full digital one cost more and most times if new only have a 1 year warranty.

I was planning on a dot matrix multi-display for oil, water, mph, tach, volts, boost is applicable, gear indication, various multiple indicators, and various customizable indicator displays intergrated. Both digital and graph bar.

Well I might be able to make a custom lens color available for cutlass/lumina's then.

exactly, that's what w-body owners can afford. they can't afford a $300 dakota digital setup.

its dissapointing really, there are a few w-body owners who have the money to spend and have no problem dropping $300+ on something like this. Sadly we are in the minority so its hard to get things like dashes, hoods, gfx, etc.

I can tell you that for the 95-99 MC LS and Z34 all the clusters are 100% interchangeable and fully functional.

See, the problem with the Dakota stuff is that it is so plain. The numbers are all the same size and kinda 80's looking. Cool if you want to add some auxilary guages, but not for an 'upgrade' to your factory gear.

I'm not even sure I'd like a dot-matrix display. How about a back-lit lcd with flourescent digits. that would be fucking cool. BUT a decent dimming feature would have to be added.

We have dot matrix displays that we can use to make any font. If we did use VFD as a backlight to TFT LCD then the cost doubles if not triples because not only do you have a VFD driver and display you have to add in the cost of a TFT LCD and its driver plus engineering and labor cost.

I am saying that we can make one, one off with a TFT the cost just to start up just one gauge of this stature would cost over 400 then lower for the next one. There is a 300 start up cost to engineer any new ideas.

Yes it would be nice to have a full color or B&W TFT display, but added with a VFD backlight will cost a average package to go upto 1299 or about.

Well if you buy a used one we can fix it or you can buy another if you can find another one. Well then buy other companies packages and end up paying more in the long run.

A full digital dash for cutlass's can cost 500-600+ dollars a plain one cost less then 300, and if they break or go faulty??? You must pay to have it fixed. Again we offer a life time warranty.

Here is a site that has a full cluster:

Those are the same as the digits we stock or have the ability to get them. the only propritary thing I see are the bar graghs. If ours look 80's ish then so does this panel because we stock those digit displays.
