  • birthday present for my boyfriend..

.. my boyfriend is in the process of getting his transmission rebuilt on his 1998 GTP ... and for his birthday i was going to get him a transmission cooler... ive heard him talk about wanting to get one, but he wasnt sure if he was going to or not, so i was going to surprise him with it ... buuut ... dont know how to go about getting it...

    any help???

Go to www.summitracing.com Tell them what tranny you have and what you plan to do with it, they will probably be able to hook you up. I have a '95 GA with a 4T60E, and on the THIRD one, i went with an 8 row (!!) heavy duty truck cooler. It is roughly a little more than half the size of my whole freak'n A.C condenesr. Thats a little overkill, yes, but you get the idea, heat=bad!! on the 660 automatics.
Don\'t hate me because I\'m horny.

Why not go one step further and impress him with a dual circuit cooler (the one I would buy). It has one circuit to cool the tranny fluid, and one to cool the engine oil. Here is the link to one with a fan on the summit website. You will also need a andwichadaptor for the engine oil. That is the next link.

      Part # PRM-13311

      Part # PRM-189

Or if you only want a Tranny cooler with no fan, this one should work.

      Hope this helps you out.

I have had a Hayden setup installed in my car for over 3 years now and haven't had any problems. I wish I could find the PN for the kit I got. It was a combo tranny and oil cooler (although 2 seperate coolers instead of a single unit performing both) and came with everything that I needed to install it (including the sandwich adapter). Installation was quick and easy. I'm pretty sure O'Reilly Auto Parts and/or Pep Boys carries Hayden, so you might look there. Ok, just looked, and Pep Boys does in fact carry Hayden parts, so that could at least give you a starting place to look.

get him a summit external/remote transmission filter kit as well. its like 30-40 bucks. it catches all the small miniscule shit the internal filter misses.

You need to talk to my wife! I remember, when we first started dating, she was thinking about getting me a set of fuzzy dice and a steering wheel cover, because she knew I was into cars. She ended up getting me a gift card to an auto parts store instead (thank you!). The Christmas before we got married, she bought be new tires for my car as well.

But now that we are married....

                    (sorry, j/p)

thats cool that you are actually taking time to care about what he wants and actually get him something he wants instead of something stupid he will never use

The Hayden one (which came in my kit and is also available seperately) is temperature controlled.

Then you can get Oil Temp gauges, both in Trans Temp and Oil Temp engraved on the lens or have a custom label made for our ody series gauges.

                              Customs welcome.
