How good is this, and what do I have to do and pay for it? My new head unit is already set up for it. Been wondering what to buy myself for Christmas.

    RE: XM Satellite Radio

    i love it

youll need a reciver and an antenna

for service it varies depending on how often you want to pay, i do it once a year myself and also pay for my parents subscription each year
Whether it’s new hip-hop and classic comedy or ‘90s jams and sports podcasts, everything you want to hear lives here at SiriusXM.

WooHoo! Scratch and Dent! I like it! TY.

So, even if the reciever is XM ready, I still need the adapter/tuner?

          RE: Re: XM Satellite Radio

yes, am HU being XM Ready just means it will work with an XM reciever device (Ie change channels display text information, tickers etc). The box you are buying is the actual reciever itself. It has an ID encoded in it that will uniquily identify your box to the service.

Think of your head unit like an HDTV and the box as the HD signal reciever.

I like it. It's 12.95 a month. You get a bit of a discount if you buy a 1 year deal on it. Quite a bit if you get the 5 year plan.

I sell both regularly (like a good 10-12 units every shift I work). Like stated above, to get the digital sound quality and use it directly through your deck, you will need the tuner and antenna(and possibly an adapter, depending on what you go with), which will range from $70-$100.

If you want to be able to take it from your car to your home, you will have to pick up on of the more portable units. You can use it in your car, and pick up a home kit to attach it to your home stereo system. You will not the the digital sound quality out of this, UNLESS you go from the port on the back of your deck (usually the cd changer port is how these adapt to aftermarket decks) to the line out on the portable unit (headphone style cable). You would most likely be buying 2 cables that way, but it would be excellent sound quality.

I had it installed yesterday at a local car audio dealer. It is awesome. I like it more than the other one(cant spell it). Wasnt that expensive. I only have to pay $6 a month b/c my dad already has it in his colorado and i get a rebate. Looks great where they put it. They put it in front of my shifter where there is the little pocket. I have a 93 Lumina Z. Just my 2 cents.

Sirius has a lifetime service plan. 500 bucks and you never pay again. Pretty sweet if you got 500 bucks layin' around. The only bitch is you don't get any discounts on additional recievers.
