The tech at work spent a couple months testing various anti-virus softwares for our systems at work and he said that the Norton products were actually some of the worst products out there.-Brad-

I use Mac and PC.
Norton on the Mac (new version) sucks and takes up space and slows the system, plus, in the 15+/- years on a mac I have never had a virus.
The PC on the other hand. I think it really depends on the websites you visit and the email you open. Norton used to be good and I think if you only use the anti virus it still is, only use the other features of Norton suite from the disk when you need it and for periodic maintenance.95 MC Z34 Black

I use f-secure internet securities on my main machine and avg free on my other systems. They both work great. Norton, symantic and mcaffe don't find all the bugs and screw up your system. I used to use them in the past until I found these 2. I currently have a friendsd machine with the sober y virus that had mcaffe on it. I also reccomend you run some spyware programs. Microsoft has a free antispyware program, Spybot search and destroy 1.4, adaware, a2 trojan scanner, and spyware doctor. I use all these on my system and as troubleshooting repair tools on other systems.95 Beretta Z-26

norton is awful, i actually went through and did the same, I bought each package and lived with it for 6 months good or bad. I ended up going through f-secure, pay avg, norton, mcaffee and then spent a few days trying to live with the trail versions of various smaller software packages. After 2 years of frustration I have settled on trend micro's inetnet security suite.
It has been the least bothersome (various popups and annoyances) the easiest to configure (allowing for individual TCP/UDP port setup and multiple profiles even setting scans to ignore certain folders and conditions or do different levels of scans on different parts of the file system) and is updated more than any security package up there. I typically get 2 updates a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. When a new big security bug is released I can get as many as 5 new updates in one day. Ive gotten updates with a virus definition file from TrendMicro litterly within 2 hours of reading about the vunerability or virus on BugTraq. No one else has even come close to that level of service.
