I'm decent with SuperGlue. Does that count for anything?

I can weld a Pop can together, but I can't stick weld worth a shit.
        ditto.

I suck at welding upside down though.

Oxy/acytelene, mig, plasma and tig. If its weldable, I can tig it!

Lincoln welding equipment is the best. There is NO substitute!!

Oh Geeze I know this will set a Miller fan off.

Honestly I don't care what macine I am welding on. As long as it isn't some Chinese POS that can't hold CC or CV to save its life.

When at school I use a Hobart machine that is older than I am for stick and Constant Current Self Sheild wire feed. A Miller inverter power supply for MIG and Aluminum spool. Also a Lincoln transformer power supply for MIG or Stick. A Miller CC AC/DC transformer machine for TIG. You can also use the old Hobarts at our school for TIG but you get no foot pedle and you have to scratch the tungsten to start the arc. Uh we have some huge 600A machines for Carbon Arc Gouging that I can no longer read the name on. Used a few different Miller plasma cutters. Also used a Syncro Wave (never herd of it until I went to school) MIG machine worked quite nice. We have 2 Lincoln Diesel welders aswell that I have used a few times.

We do a lot of sub-arc welding at work.

Those old Lincoln deisel(gas) welders got some power behind them now. My claim to stupidity was welding up a split in a chem tank while it was leaking. Stupid stupid. Never again. I like stick for heavier stuff and wire for thinner stuff. Gas and smoke if theres no voltage around(hey it does happen). But with the wire/ bottle welders its like you got a ball and chain with you. For 6/60 work a wire/gas feed box would be an all around good choice. Of course if the funds will let you a tungsten/gas welder would be the way to go(and the time).

BTW a local shop around here is pushing Hobart Migs. Never used a Hobart mig. Any body got anything to say/experience with these? Thinking about buying a new one after xmas. Last 2 Ive had were a Miller then a Linc.

You can do TIG on a Constant Current (Stick) machine and a bottle of gas. So you dont have to spend mega dollars on a fancy TIG machine. If you can get by without all the bells and whistles you can do TIG cheeper than most wire feed machines.

Why is it that I can see someone from this group actually building one of these? classicbroncos.com/homemade-welder.shtml
Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

i weld whatever needs welded. mig and stick, i need a tig. i've done subframe connectors, rockers, quarter panels, roll cages, cut/welded cast iron exhaust manifolds to make custom deals to fit, basically any welding on a car i've done. i've built ladder racks for trucks, trailers. my dad is certified in about every type of welding except underwater, so i've got a great teacher. he was a milrite at the steel mill so he's welded anything and everything industrial and took hours of classes to be allowed to do so.

                              And my welding abilities?

                              I can birdshit-weld well enough to get a non-critical job done. :P
Ridge, I was just repairing it! Hell! I didn't build the Damn things! This pic was taken in about 1737 A.D.! Jeez....Some people are so gullible. They didn't even invent the electric welder until about 1642. Or so I was told.

or just get the lincoln 225 ac/dc buzz box with a campbell hausfeld tig torch conversion and a bottle of argon with a flowmeter regulator like I did.
